Agree 100% with all this.

Geiger got it wrong on all sides. Even as a NYRB fan, calling the play dead on the goal is boarderline. I could see it both ways. But sending Felipe off when the play was 5 feet away was atrocious. It wouldn't have ever been a yellow.

You know Toledo isn't crooked because he refs so poorly for both teams in most games.

Geiger usually picks a side to favor in each game-- even thinking back to the France/Nigeria World Cup match where he gave France the game.

Who is the best current MLS ref?

Lol wp

The best referee is the one I don't know, I don't want my referees to be famous MLS Season Thread 2016

think there are a couple decent refs in this league, maybe a few, but i always forget to note who they are. overall i don't think the situation is too bad. i mean, you watch UEFA CL and ppl bitch and whine about bad reffing and how only refs from the big leagues should be doing those games. then everyone bitches and whines about the Spanish ref the other day, and the Italian ones are all bought by the mob or what have you. and i think most of the EPL refs kinda really suck (especially Clattenburg who is like England's #1 now or whatever). so i dunno, it's a tough job, and lots of them suck and/or are crooked. don't really see a solution to the "problem". *shrug*

but maybe i'll start making better note of the ones who have a good game at least...

guess the one thing i like about Geiger is that he has the guts to make tough calls.
e.g. 2 PKs against the Sounders in Seattle a couple weeks back

lots of late games again this week, funny scheduling early on

The Felipe red was dead on correct, Geiger did very well to spot it. Didn't see the rest of that game. If you're not used to seeing that get called, it's because most refs aren't as good as Geiger.

Had to watch the Fire game on MLS Live with the excuse that I'm out of town.

Union highlight of the game:

Chicago defender gets a foot on the cross to deflect slightly. Ilsinho is fun.

No Drogba, no Donadel, no Oyongo and the bad Oduro who looks like he's never played soccer before = no chance.

This offense will be super sick though once Drogba and co. have time to build chemistry.

20th anniversary of the first MLS game (6 April 96) being commemorated tonight in San Jose, Clash vs United. Kinda disappointed tonight's SJ uniforms aren't more, eh, clashy (as a one off, of course)

The East may be more lol this year than last. Through 4 matches the best goal differential in the East is a paltry +1. Meanwhile in the West, only 1 team has a negative goal differential.

Not only does just a single WC team have a negative GD, it's the Seattle Sounders who I don't think anybody expects to be terrible this season. Really happy Atlanta's coming in when the East is so lol.

Parity is so stupid. What's the incentive to hold season tickets?

Maybe I'll feel different come summer when the weather is great and Giovinco is styling and profiling

But since this is TFC he'll probably break his legs at Euro's

cross posted from the euro leagues thread:

on a corner kick, must the offensive team take the corner from the side of the goal which the ball crossed the end line on? or can you switch to the other corner if you want, similar to like allowed for a goal kick?

any reference to where the rule is actually printed on a fifa site is greatly appreciated
