rapids may not be a joke this year for once. seems like they are at least trying to win now with these moves their making and they've looked pretty good so far defensively in 3 games.

if they can get marco pappa in form he would be a great addition as the guy can score goals.

Match is whatever. Impact super flat. Camara, Mallace, Cabrera, and co. kept giving away idiotic fouls and it finally cost them. Venegas obviously bumped and Drogba deserved a chance to equalize with a free kick. While everyone complains about the obvious foul, goalie takes a dropkick well outside his box that leads directly to 2nd goal (Camara beaten of course).
This is perfectly legal. The only rule is you can't touch the ball with your hands outside the area. If you release the ball in the area, step outside and then kick it you're fine. Even if you catch him an inch outside, you're not supposed to call it strictly like 6 seconds.

Also, I agreed with the 2nd PK Van got, didn't see the first.

The 2016 MLS players poll. Interesting thoughts here. Still a good amount of delusion WRT promotion and relegation.

Can't believe half the league thinks the best MLS side would finish 10th-14th in the EPL. That's an insane level of delusion right there.

This year they would IMO. Normally though the best MLS team would struggle to stay up.

would say 20th-13th more accurate than 10-14th.

For Ex. I think NYRB last year would have likely been able to be close to a mid table side. People grossly overrated mid table EPL teams. Generally speaking outside of the top 7-8 there isn't a huge gap between the rest of the premier league and the top of the championship.

Problem with these kinds of comparisons is the squad depth an EPL team has vs. an MLS team. Who's to say that with a deeper team and MLS team couldn't make a serious run over an EPL season?

Of course, the flip side to that is the talent deeper down the bench in an EPL club is much much much better than what would be available for an MLS team.

I'd put the best MLS teams at about 19th in the PL. Usually 20th, but Villa is vile.

3 games today, no idea why. Poku starts for NYC, who lead early through Villa and Tommy Mac.

don't want to alarm anyone, but Orlando isn't involved in the Friday game tonight ... it's Revs vs Red Bulls!
notbad.jpg

NER are the only team in the league with zero injuries? whereas NYRB has some issues with defenders Ronald Zubar, Gideon Baah & Damien Perrinelle all out. smart money favours goals for the home team?

in other news:

- Minnesota gets a tax break wrt to their new stadium, and THA GARB visits Sactown to gauge their MLS interest
- Vancouver as been handed a 2nd retroactive suspension in 4 matches, good times
- NYCFC's midfielder Tommy McNamara might play for Ireland internationally?
- Celtic's Honduran LB Emilio Izaguirre wants to come over to MLS? not sure if he can still play (he's reportedly lost his starting position over there), but he was the SPL's POTY in 2011
- Galaxy roll into Vancouver ... but without Gerrard, or Keane, or Kennedy, and maybe not dos Santos, or Villarreal, or Leonardo, or Larentowicz. man i'll be real MAD when they still manage to win.

This week will be a good test to see if the Union have turned the corner. The Union of the last couple of years would lose to Chicago after winning the two games.

I had been wondering why the line on VAN had dropped from +140 to +115 in like a day, now I get it. I mean VAN is decent, but c'mon!

and LAG's remaining team is still decent too

their lineup should feature guys like Magee, Zardes, Boateng, De Jong, Lletget, Cole, Van Damme, Rogers, etc

Aside from one or two glitches, Geiger was clearly better before he became the US #1 in the eyes of CONCACAF, so maybe pre-2012 or something. The past three years, he is consistently good for at least one howler per game. I'd even take the much maligned Salazar or Toledo over Geiger these days.
