MLS Offseason Thread

The new season is just around the corner, some good story lines to look at this year. With Philly's franchise taking flight. Can Houston rebound despite losing two of its best midfielders? Will a new CBA be finalized in time to get the season off on time?

My team Seattle Sounders officially opened camp today, and guess who didnt show up? Freddie L. Everyone else though has reported. Still it sucks when one of your leaders has not shown up for Camp that said he is apparently in contact with the FO.

I am hoping the Sounders continue their excellent run despite a fixture heavy schedule this year with the inclusion of CONCACAF Champions League games. This year I will be attending every home game for both USOC CCL and MLS. Last year I hit every MLS home game, and friendly, but missed one or two USOC matches played at a different facility locally.

heh, a bit early. Oh well.

This will likely be a pretty meh season since the world cup puts a massive fu on the middle of the season. Big question for me is how many MLS players move overseas after the WC. Is Landon coming back? Is Holden?

Training camps are opening up and the season is 2 months away. Never to early!!!! Soccer has a short off season and it already seemed too long for me .

I've said it in the first few years they've been in the league, and never made it out, but again...

This year, I will make it to a Toronto FC match.

Quick questions guys, What club has the most traveling fans? Which clubs' fans would you say are the most organized? And do members of these fangroups pay any kind of memberships fees to help pay for choreography and etc.

There is no MLS team in my city at the moment, but I would love to get involved once we do get one. Just wondering how serious the fans of the other clubs are.

Just from browsing youtube, TorontoFC supporters seem pretty legit. Last year I was also impressed to see about 15 Seattle fans on a far away trip, they had organized chants, claps and they were also scarfers. (not impressed with the numbers, but they did look like a proper group and that is what impresses me most)

I only know a little bit about TFC groups, but they have a couple really well organized ones.

Estimated about 2,000 travelled from Toronto to Columbus for a game last year. But apparently they aren't go back this year because of troubles with police.

Is it looking like Montero will play this year for Seattle? Rumors said he was possibly signing with Fenerbache. Freddie L. is probably using the CBA situation as an excuse to go back to Europe.

I'll be interested to see if any of the rumored European players make their way to MLS. Seems like there is a new Henry or Raul to MLS report every week.

Seattle Sounders have the Emerald City Supporters.

I watched a few games with them last summer in random Seattle bars and they are a pretty enthusiastic bunch.

From what I hear Portland and Vancouver fans are gonna be pretty insane come 2011. I'm debating on whether or not I should intern with the Sounders for as long as possible just so I can be around for that season, should be wild.

I may go to a game. Hopefully I dont get shot in Chester though.

When does that stadium open? I see they play their home opener at the Linc vs DC.

re: MLS CUP 2010 Colardo v. Dallas Thread(Sunday November 21 on ESPN)

I made it into Philly for the draft this year, it was a sweet time. The Sons of Ben were there in numbers, but i think RB's ESC was louder with a crowd 1/3rd the size. It was pretttttty sweet being like 10 feet from Jason Kreis and Bruce Arena and crew (and rest of leagues managers/gm's) while they're making the deal Clint Mathis. Someone yelled "You're just jealous Mathis scored in the world cup." Kreis sat up turned around, looked us in the face "You are absolutely right".

Got season tickets in the ESC in new sexy Red Bull Arena. It'd be cool if it could get 1/3rd as many season tickets as Seattle's getting this year, but oh well. Here's to a season that hopefully won't rank amongst the worst of all time!

yeah I can't wait to see RB's new arena on TV. The pictures look awesome. Philly/NYRB should hopefully provide a cool rivalry. Every team in the league needs a good one.
