yup, they finally took my advice that we needed a CM and signed Scottish player Barry Robson. he will join the team once his season is over in the Championship.

Re: MLS 2012 Season

Eddie Johnson signed by MLS, and will get allocated today.

Montreal gets first crack at him, followed by Vancouver, New England, TFC and Chivas.

Re: MLS 2012 Season

league sure works in funny ways, they sign him then auction him off. weird.

anyway, chances Montreal takes him as they just gave Ching away? can't imagine Vancouver with bother given all their forwards (and depending on his contract), but who knows. are you allowed to claim him then trade him?

and seems strange that he's 27 now. that whole European adventure didn't seem to work out too well for him, did it?

Yes, but in practice teams generally trade for the allocation spot to pick him rather than wait until after he has been taken.

In HUGE MLS NEWS THAT YOU MUST CARE ABOUT. The legendary defender CJ Brown has been inducted into the Ring Of Fire. A 13 year member of the Chicago fire, his 370ish appearances in all competitions is 3rd all time. We you CJ.

Never should have gone in the first place, not good enough. Had a hot run one season where he scored a lot in like ten games, but in general he's not very good even in mls imo.

Technically yes, but allocation spots are worth a lot so you don't usually see that in practice. I mean, Montreal is going to move to 19th in the Allocation Order now, so Fucito and Neagle need to be better for their team than any of the next 18 guys to come through the allocation process.

Montreal would've been better off trading for Seattle's allocation spot than taking Johnson and then trading him, in other words.

I mean, some people who (based on age and playing situation) could be coming through the allocation process in the near future:

Marcus Hahnemann
Carlos Bocanegra
Ricardo Clark
Steve Cherundolo
DeMarcus Beasley

and that ignores the "prior MLS players who left with a transfer fee" condition for players going through allocation (like Bakary Soumare, for instance)
