I guess with a 3 run lead he is a favorite to give up fewer than that based on his ERA this year.

He is definitely due for a sub 3 run performance.

His ERA tonight:

Started at 12.6 prior to this game.

After 1 out: 12.19
After 2 outs: 11.81
After 3 outs: 11.45

So by doing his ****ing job he dropped his ERA by well over a full run. In 1 inning pitched. Which took him 20 pitches.

Please let it stop.

30+ Red Sox fans were kicked out of stadium from the center field area during the game for slurs. It was a cold night so the crowd was sparse. Pretty much the entire center field area was calling him a ****** and monkey. I think an apology is in order.

This **** is ridiculous now. We've officially jumped the shark.
The only fair comparison is peak Bonds and even that's a disservice to JUDGE

I don't watch a ton of baseball, but I have a serious question. Let's say you had a bottom tier starting pitcher who's thrown 100 pitches through 6 innings, and let's say your team is down like 6-0.

Why don't you just have that starter finish the game? Sure, he throws like 160 pitches, but you save your bullpen, and he's not so good that you can't just call some guy up to take his spot in the rotation.

Because the guy you'd call up to take his start isn't as good as him, otherwise he'd already be in the rotation.

i think judge hitting 60 homers is actually quite plausible assuming his plate discipline doesn't regress and buy into that considerably more than thames

1. 81 games in yankee stadium + a division of hitters parks sans the pinball wizard
2. probably the most raw power out of anyone in the majors
3 (and this is the important one). his discipline took an OVERWHELMING step forward so far. his zone percentage is identical to last year only he's making more contact and even more important he's swinging WAY less at pitches outside the zone

his whiff rate + o-swing rate + hard hit % + park factors have some holy ****ing **** possibilities

That's fair, but is the difference between the 5th starter and top AAA guy (or wherever you'd find his replacement) that significant? Like is the equity difference more than having your bullpen rested?

Others will be more knowledgeable about this than me, but I'm pretty sure there's limits on the number of times you can send players down/call players up. And once you've been sent down, you can't be called back up for x number of days(10 maybe). Otherwise, a player would get sent down each day after his start so they can bring up fresh arms, and call the guy back up when it's his turn to start again.

Also, most bullpens are gonna have around 8 relievers, so it's pretty uncommon to completely burn through them all in one game. It usually takes a few games of short outings by the starter. If the bullpen was in THAT bad of shape, and a game was way out of hand, they'll bring a position player in to pitch before having the starter throw 160 pitches.

Young players get boned hard in MLB. You're kind of right about options, but it is more about time rather than, number of trips they go up and down. I think.
