Darvish looks like he's never taken an at bat in his life and can't wait to get out of there.

If we have the no pitch intentional walk, why can't we have the no pitch strike out for him?

He clearly doesn't want to be in there.

I'm just very much anti fowler and no stats will prove me otherwise!

Basically this. Like, I think we can all agree this team isn't dominant in any way...but, 2011...2006

Nah, this is why the DH sucks. You have a now NL pitcher scared to death to hit because he's been in the AL his whole career. Lol DH, and lol DH supporters.

Or when Travis Wood or Jake Arrieta hit a homer in the playoffs.

Yeah, definetly worth having 11% of the lineup be an automatic out to have that happen once every decade (and it'll happen less and less)

the "automatic out" hyperbole makes you look like an idiot. pitchers reach base just slightly less than half as often as position players
MLB Season Thread 2017 Quote

so..... just-slightly-less-than-automatic out? Doesn't have the same ring, but says much the same thing

the difference between a pitcher and automatic out is pretty much the same as between a pitcher and position player

so logically if pitcher = automatic out then position player = automatic out since you have declared the difference to be negligible

but the point overall is that you can't dismiss the strategy which revolves around the pitcher spot in the order (which exists because it is not an automatic out) by simply deciding that it is an automatic out therefore something

If it were an automatic out then teams would walk the 8 hitter if there were 2 outs literally 100% of the time even if there were already 2 men on base.

I didn't dismiss any strategy at all. Just saying that pitchers suck at hitting and thus their ABs are awful to watch.
