If it's the Blake Rutherford part of the deal I get it but at the same time big picture he doesn't have a position currently with Judge, Clint Frazier, Ellsbury's horrid contract, Gardy, holding it down currently and potentially Harper in 2018 if it falls that way.

If at worse you take it as Todd Frazier and Clippard are a wash then what your left with is Robertson and Kahnle vs a top 30-40 ish prospect and a throw in who's been in A ball for the past 3 years. The only thing I haven't heard is how much will the Yankees have to pick up on the incoming contracts but assuming it's not all of it then I'm perfectly fine with this deal from both ends.

EDIT: Sorry 2 throw ins...Tito Polo.

why would mallex smith risk stealing 3rd there in a 1 run game with 2 outs?

For starters, this idea that Rutherford is blocked in Yankee OF is dumb.
Frazier has played 10 minutes in the show. Who knows how good he'll be 2-4 years from now? Gardner is signed through next year only (team option for 2019) and is on the trade block every off-season. Judge and Ellsbury look like they'll be around for a while--but **** happens--injuries, players becoming intolerably bad, etc. Talent is talent, and you can never have too much. People thought the Mets had too much SP at the beginning of the season.

Next, I agree with Sam that I don't see any reason why the Yanks wouldn't be picking up all of DRob's contract (in fact I think I read somewhere that the whole reason Clippard is going back to CWS is to off-set some of the money, since otherwise he has no reason to be there). Like Karak, I've always liked DRob, but he has gotten worse and is extraneous in our pen. We don't need him; we need Chapman and Betances to start pitching like the superstars they're capable of being. We especially don't need him when we get Kahnle, who is much better.

I'm also just not much of a Todd Frazier fan. He's got pop but can't hit. Sounds like he'll be playing 1B and 3B for us which makes sense, but I'd assume he plays 1B more often unless we make another trade. If we could find someone else to play 1B and kill Headley and have Frazier play 3B I'd like it better.

Only good thing about this deal is now we have dos Fraziers and can bat them next to each other and watch Frazier and Frazier go back to back

I think the thing people who think this deal is close are forgetting is that Todd Frazier is better than Kris Bryant

Listen, he had Bryant had 1 less home run and 4 more RBI's. The big gap is the 65 point difference in batting average. And I mean...Bryant can throw the baseball, but he's not Todd Frazier defensively. Neither's Arenado, but I'm talkin these two. And yet, despite 1 less home run and 4 more RBI's, one was MVP and one barely gets mentioned...so batting averages can really be skewed, when you consider the way Todd throws the leather at 3rd.
