I'm so torn, Eloy is a beast and will be mashing soon. Quintana on cheap is great. Will have to replace arrieta and Lackey. I think this frees up money to go after darvish or otani

I'm 100% ok with it. Losing Eloy hurts but we need pitching and Quintana is on a really solid contract

White Sox now have 9 of the top 69 prospect talent in baseball.

Meanwhile the Cubs have 1 guy left in the top 100, Candelario, who's completely blocked position-wise and didn't do much when he was up. Of course half their 25-man roster is made up of prospects promoted in the last few years, who should be there awhile, but the prospect-watching days are pretty much over for Cubs fans. Not much left even for trades now.

Yeah I dunno, seems specious to not have guys like Happ on the list considering how much team control they have.

Cubs built their farm system the way they did to do exactly what they are doing with it imo. They have several young very good players with multiple years of control.

This. is not yet problem, but is concern

Yeah, I'm not complaining at all. This was the desired endgame of the rebuild all along. You can't hoard prospects forever and go all-in competing for a title at the same time. It's just kind of weird after following the Cubs minor league system closely the last few years and watching all these guys graduate through it like a steady pipeline, to realize there's no big name to really look forward to anymore. They're all already here (or gone).

More importantly, they arguably have two of the top five position players in Moncada and Eloy. This is exactly what you want in a system. Sure thing position prospects at the top of your prospect list and lots of pitching depth lower down on the list.

Colby is definitely a total headcase weirdo, has been his whole career. Has a VERY involved family too. When he first came up his dad was his personal hitting coach and he pretty much refused to be involved with the team. The rumors were that played a significant role in the midseason deal from the Cards to the Jays that brought Edwin Jackson and Scrabble.

I read that 3 times as Edwin Encarnacion and just couldn't reconcile.

Yeah, I recall that. But don't remember what was received. EJax sure liked(s?) to bounce around.
