The Mets paid him $100,000 so they could sell $150,000 (well...more) in shirts. He signed up so he could sell a new kind of autographed merchandise on his site. Just another way to bilk the rubes out of hard-earned money.

On a totally different topic: It's wonderful having baseball back every day. Today I woke up, ran some errands listening to some baseball on my phone, came home, made some tea while watching baseball, and now I'm sitting here watching more baseball before I go make dinner while watching more baseball.

Not strongly either way. If the Tebow thing were similarly momentary, I wouldn't care about it either, really. it's the media's consistent slobbering and inevitability of it going at least through the season and probably into others which is the most annoying element to me.

if other people want to hear about it, so be it I guess, but I deliberately avoid Cut4 and similar services because I don't care about which foods are being served at ballparks or changes to the unis. The stuff I subscribe to generally sticks to MLB player performance, legit prospects and transactions (and fantasy every year but this one). Somehow though, Tebow permeates all of the above, consistently and it's excruciating. Takes away from my enjoyment of following the game the way I want to.
