confirmed Madbum>Lincecum

I have a feeling there will be a huge star breaking out this year, something like Ackley OBPing .450, Lawrie hitting 50HR, Moore having 250Ks or sth like that

The drop in Lincecum's velocity as well as a four season decline in K/9 suggest that you're correct (at the same time, that could be Dave Righetti's influence). I'm all for yoga and unique pitch mechanics, but I think you need a build like Matt Cain to sustain a workload of 800+ IP in 4 years. Can you think of similar pitchers that lose their arm at age 29-30 after that workload? (Hint: Brandon Webb)

Re: MLB Regular Season Thread 2012

if the giants have any sense they let lincecum walk when he his free agency and pay cain now before he hits the open market and the dodgers want to make a splash (afaik he'd be the big fish free agent, at least with hamilton relapsing). i'm not sure how long they have club control on posey/sandoval/madbum, but for sure getting cain + lincecum is going to prevent resigning them, and i'd muchhhhh rather have any 2 of the posey trio locked up than lincecum. even with a drop in velocity and whatever questions about him there may be, he's going to set the record for pitcher money

If you know you're going to let him walk, then doesn't it make more sense to deal him before it gets to that point?

I guess if you're tying to do the Pujols-go-out-a-winner thing it might not, but otherwise you can't just say thanks for the memories, c'ya around.
