Yep

No half measures

The only argument I can think of for Boston not wanting to bother with EE and I guess what could depress his value ultimately is teams nor wanting to waste a big money contract on an aging DH in front of the holy ****ing **** mega FA class

There's a few others that could be a big deal by that point but as it stands are pretty whatever (Harvey, beltre, grandal, Adam Jones, drew pomagrante)

All in all that free agent class is so stacked that it's probably way in the interest of the lesser to mid guys to reup before they hit free agency lest they get e^5'd

Another reason Boston probably isn't pursuing Encarnacion is that he bats R

Betts, Bogaerts, Pedroia, Bradley Jr., and Hanley all bat R

Do you disagree with AINEC? Because I think regardless of whatever the final WAR numbers are, it's AINEC.

This isn't a hypothetical that Pedroia's career ends today.

It is projecting what his likely outcomes are for the rest of his career, and comparing those with Ortiz.

Just don't even bother reading 2p2 baseball threads in 5 years when it is a reality. I will be on constant lifetilt.

And you don't think Papi will be in the Hall while Pedroia is still on the field?

I never really pay a ton of attention to teams that aren't the dodgers during the off season so just wondering if any teams have gotten significantly better to the point where they may be legit WS contenders?

Red Sox will be crazy good. Sale and apparently Sandoval is in shape. Apparently really good shape. Think he'll bounce back well.

I think enough old school guys will not vote for Ortiz due to steroids. If guys like Piazza and Bagwell are struggling/struggled to get in due to suspicious, I don't see how Ortiz doesn't also get dinged given he tested positive (and then you have to account for that he was an inferior player to both).

I can't fathom Papi not getting in. Simply based on October heroics for the goddamn Red Sox, to go with 500 HR club. And that's just on the field stuff. People like Papi.

Never mind steroids, does anyone think his play doesn't merit induction?

Ortiz v Pedroia isn't close because Ortiz is automatic and Pedroia isn't yet. How is that not obvious?

Think it's pretty clear the Selig election shifted the goalposts. 5 years from now, Bonds and Clemens will be in and floodgates will be open.
