Thibbs just publicized a newly submitted ballot that voted for Manny but not Bonds and Clemens. Holy **** are people stupid.

Piazza got voted in last year. Not just on a ballot, actually voted in. He's admitted to roiding. I believe that the reason Bonds isn't being voted in is because a percentage of the writers are salty that he wasn't super nice to them. It used to be a situation where they could hide that hatred behind "well, roids, etc" but that went out the window last year. I get that he was a jerk to the media a lot, they hold the votes, and so it's viewable as some sort of karma. I just think it's sad that many people that are known to have roided will get in before Bonds at this rate.

The thing that keeps me from saying "it IS a hatred of someone that was rue to them" rather than "I believe that the reason" is Clemens missing. Still can't figure that one out.

just saw brewers prospect named bickford got 50 game suspension for failing a drug test for pot. apparently in the majors it doesn't matter and you aren't suspended but you are in the minors for some reason. seems pretty idiotic and sucks for him and the brewers as his numbers are pretty good in the minors

Yeah Jeremy Jeffress (and others) went through the same thing, he almost got a lifetime ban while in the minors. Sucks that both MLB and the player union do not care about minor league players at all, I don't get how you can say it is wrong in the minors but perfectly fine in the majors. Either it is, or it isn't. Personally I think it should be legal but that doesn't really matter, the bigger issue is they are not being consistent.

But anyway, going to miss Dex...he was great for us.
That would be very different than an "overpay," but I'm not sure that's what he meant. Fowler needs to average a touch over 2 WAR/yr to earn this deal. Feel pretty good about those chances given his profile. Weird comment regardless of he meant, but by all means stay salty.

5/80 doesn't seem at all out of place these days.

What are you guys talking about? It was an overpay relative to the next best offer of 4/60 and that's what his point was.

To honestly answer your question, after further review, I don't know.

Yeah, meant overpay compared to next best offer. Off the cuff, cuz who knows what is true on those offers

I mean that redefines "overpay" as "outbid," which, sure, English is flexible enough even if those are typically different things. But if the post is to lol @ the notion that the Cardinals had to outbid other people (which, ftr, we don't know, but let's assume that it's true), then I'm not sure what island you've been living on. The Cardinals of course have to outbid. When have they not?

Think Posada will get in (not this year) but in the next 5?

No chance. More likely to be off ballot than make it in.

The Red Sox can sign whoever they want, David Price still has to pitch playoff games for them.

I'm jerking off pretty hard to an MLB Network show about the 1993 season. God I love baseball in the 90s. Even though I only caught the last few years.

Final day of the season, the Braves and Giants, who for some reason were in the same division, each had 103 wins. Barves win, Giants lose, and at 103-59 don't make the postseason. I'm glad that doesn't happen anymore.

The giants were my favorite team then.
Loved will Clark.
That season was rough

I only now understand why Solomon Torres started the final game.

Bc dusty baker that's why.

when closers are signing 5 year deals with an opt out clause i think it's safe to say no major free agent will ever be underpaid again

'93 Giants team was pretty sick, though not a lot of depth in the starting rotation, which was central to Dusty making that bad decision on the last day. I will always be surprised he opted to fly in the face of the orthodoxy and start Torres when he could have gone with the SEASONED VET in Scott Sanderson.

I have no clue if the numbers will bear this out, but the OF on that team with pre-juice Bonds, Darren Lewis, Willie McGee and Dave Martinez as the 4th was so incredible, it seemed like a ball never made it into the gap. (Probably will end up they gave up a record amount of XBH, but that's how I remember it lol)

apparently the new CBA disallows dressing rookies up in female clothes. I'm sure this rule will stop dozens of people from being offended.
