idk eb

I think my ballot would be one person: bonds.

Just so far better than everyone else and we've broken the "taken steroids so no way" barrier with Piazza already. It's time.

And it'd remain one person until they let him in.

10 players going in every year would dilute the meaning of fame.

I don't get Bonds without Clemens

My take is "I believe Bonds is the best player to ever play the game - both career and peak - and until the Hall recognizes his accomplishments I don't think they should recognize anybodys".

I have Clemens right behind him as the next one I'd put in.

To elaborate a bit further, I think in a perfect world my ballot would look like:

Bonds
Clemens
Pudge
Bagwell
Schilling
Manny
Moose

With moose barely making it due to recent arguments presented for him (initially had him off. Bagwell took me looking at the numbers to realize how good he was. Other 5 are no brainers for me).

Back when it was a blanket no on anyone with roid/ped use/accusations this would be my ballot. Now that we've broken that barrier though with Piazza, I think Bonds still not making it is an absolute farce and would put Bonds only until it was fixed.

I just saw this again and you need to know how dumb you are. Name 10 players that retired this year that should be in the HOF. Or 10 that retired last year. Or 10 from the year before that. In the short term you'd catch up on the backlog of players that deserve to be in, but that is what the vet committee is for.

He didn't say every year, he said this year.

Man, I've never seen a good post from txdome.

Because I feel bad for you guys I'll step up and make a good post:

I will never EVER respect the hall as long as one of the clutchest pitchers to ever play the game is not in: John Scott "Jack" Morris.

Surprised at your Raines omission. Why are you a no on him?

If you can't get in on the first 9 ballots, what did you since then that makes you good on the 10th?

Get people to actually look at your career stats? Get enough Pedros and Units off the ballot for the 10 max to no longer matter?

Oh, error on my end. Was just rushing through the list to show I thought others were worthy under normal circumstances. He has the number factor (a little under 70 WAR) for career, an impressive peak, a thing that made him special (90 sb), and even some RANGZ. No real argument can be made against him except that silly cocaine thing, and imo thats a terrible one anyways.

**** stats. If he isn't remembered as one of the most famous players of his era he doesn't get in.

Roger Maris says hello.

The reality is you're eliminating half the plausible candidates just by virtue of which team drafted them. I do think there's some merit to using fame as a reason to advocate for a candidacy (Ortiz is one of these guys, imo), but it doesn't seem reasonable to use it against someone because of the reality of how fame relates to team.

Obv it's not the best show ever but I really like it because I really enjoy the off the field baseball stuff.

Beltran is back with the Astros: 1/16

Full no trade clause. He's 39 (just so no one had to look it up).

im surprised a guy on a one year deal at that age wants no trade. seems like it'd be win/win for him given either houston would be doing well and not trade him or houston would be doing poorly and trade him to a contender.
