Obviously verlander is a massive loser but I always thought of him as a hall of famer. Curious what the consensus is though.

How bad does Verlander need to be the rest of his career to not get to the HOF?

He's at 52.6 fWAR, which is pretty low by present SP standards. He needs at least another couple of 5 WAR seasons or a monumental shift in SP voting philosophy, considering Mussina (whose case is exceptional because he lacks a signature season or peak) finished with 82.2 WAR and hasn't sniffed it. A second Cy would have gone a long way towards getting him there...could literally be a difference maker.

I don't know if this goes here but I am really happy about Trout. Don't even care if he deserved it, **** everyone who isn't Trout. Go Trout!

The people who had Trout 5th and 7th on their ballots should be tarred and feathered

Verlander is kind of a choke artist in the big spots. The bigger the spot the worse he does. Kind of like kershaw/price.

Having said that I think he got robbed and will very likely be in The HOF.

You do realize even if they both gave him 3rd he doesn't win it still

People have started to undervalue wins as a pitcher stat. You pitch to win the game. What the score is completely changes the type of pitches you will throw in what spot.

Thats not to say Porcello deserved to win, I did not compare the pitchers.

TJ I think if they had both placed him 3rd then Verlander would have won. Tied if one was 3rd and the other was 4th.

Wish KB had gone unanimous but whatever. Got in debate with Cubs fan buddy today who said he wouldn't trade Russell, Javy, Almora Jr, Soler, and Montgomery for Trout. I would. No idea if $ etc works out, we were just talking.

Actually, if they both gave him third, he'd have won it. Also realize that if they had enough comprehension to put him on, they'd have had enough comprehension to realize that he was one of the three best pitchers in the AL. Leaving him off required Alicia Silverstone level cluelessness.

Wtf, if you cast a ballot like that your future voting privileges should be revoked.
