Upton is a solid number one pick. There are a ton of different players here who are all debatable. Upton turning 25 in August is nice.

Upton is a solid pick but doesn't deserve to be #1 (or even top 5, maybe but he's a slam dunk top 10 at worst) and this is coming from a guy who gave up the farm for him in his high-stakes 24 team, 40-man roster dynasty league. (think it was matt holliday, gary sanchez, adrian salcedo, a couple of good draft picks for upton, matt lipka and some mediocre closer like fatt crapps)

both great players but not the names you would take first overall.

AGree with disko (stop naming undrafteds btw) Upton is definite top 10, but don't think he's top 5. I woulda traded down if you wanted him and if someone else took him then so be it.

As far as injuries/suspensions........doesn't matter about suspensions, it's 10 years so someone who happens to be out for some reason won't have any effect. Injuries should definitely count, and more in terms of "well this guy is very injury prone" as opposed to "this guy may not come back till june."

IMO, one of the biggest challenges of the draft is trying to determine value of guys with injury history. If injuries don't count then it changes everything.

Andruw Jones and Ruben Sierra would of been high draft picks in a draft like this after their first two years. Maybe Upton isn't the de-facto number one pick but he's 24, had two very good years in a pitchers ball park and been in one of the best pitching divisions in baseball. All of the top 12ish are going to be debatable.

This is a 10year draft, the fact that Upton is 23 is a huge factor even vs 25/27 year olds, since defensive prime is before 30
