I'm having difficulty with getting updated stats that include today's games. Baseball reference hasn't included today's games, and while ESPN has, it's easiest for me to find and quote stats that don't include today's games.
So I'm quoting through 4/29, but I made sure they didn't qualify on 4/30.
The most popular incorrect was played by 5 of you, Joey Votto. Notoriously tight-lipped about his approach to reporters, Fangraphs noted that he began the season basically swinging at everything in the zone. New approach? Or playing the long con. In any case, his power is back to his MVP year levels, but perhaps at the cost of his average, as he's hitting .247.
Our next most popular incorrect was played by 3 contestants, Miguel Cabrera. He's a career .320/.399/.561 hitter, which is pretty mindblowing, but was only off for a .268 start before hitting the DL this year.
The remaining incorrects are all would-be aces. The furthest from qualifying is probably David Dahl, who hit the DL late in Spring Training and has yet to make his 2017 debut.
Our next incorrect is the leadoff hitter for my team, Ender Inciarte. He had a pretty brutal start, though he's been great these last two series. Unfortunately for him, that puts him at .229 on the year.
Our next incorrect is a confirmed homer pick. Gregory Polanco's been stealing bases, but not getting on base as much as he'd like. He's at .243 so far.
