Same way I feel. He certainly helped himself out tonight. That was an oustanding performance. Dats 2

How similar is/should your GOAT list be to your all-time start a franchise list (assuming you get the player for their entire career)? I think my lists would be close to identical, but I suppose others might feel differently.

Disagree for sure. Lebron's build is just like Karl Malone who aged great. His passing ability alone will allow him to be a facilitator from the high post once his athleticism fades(think of how older Sabonis played). He has added improved outside shooting which will not go away with age. And even when his speed/jumping ability decline, his power and size will still give him an edge over almost all SFs.

but you can't really use that excuse for lebron. lebron could have gone to any team in basketball if he wanted to. he hand picked miami and hand picked the players he was going to play with. so he picked players to join at the hip that weren't as good as we thought they'd be, and could very well amount to dead weight next season onward. oh well. tough ****

if wade and bosh are on the heat next season i wouldn't regard them as the favorite for even a second. the bulls for 6 out of 8 years were a whale in a tear drop who no team had a real chance of dethroning. the heat are a big fish in a pond of big fishes

all of this is to say for all of the individual accolades lebron will finish with, does anyone really believe he can win 6 titles with the heat? i mean, i'd be shocked if he gets to 4. and if he can't, doesn't that automatically disqualify him from being the GOAT? and if he has to jump ship again wouldn't that also disqualify him from being the GOAT?
If they return I will take the Heat, you can take any other team, will bet as much as you'd like.

Thoughts on LBJ's ceiling as a jump shooter? He's already ELITE from 16-23 feet (Jordan-esque), and is way above average from the 3 point line. As Windhorst mentioned, his FG% has increased in each of the last six consecutive years. I'm not sure he'll ever be an 85% FT shooter (but I wouldn't put it past him), however it looks as though he hasn't stopped getting better from other spots on he court.

He's basically doing what Jordan did when he no longer had the athleticism, only LBJ's body isn't close to declining imo.

We are all witnesses.

pretty much every non-FO slam Nadal won, is entirely due to him playing left-handed despite being right handed. It tailor made his game to punish the only weak-point in Fed's game, and wouldn't exist if he played RH

yes basketball theory has greatly improved in the last 20 years, Lebron having good 3pt range is a huge positive compared to MJ's horrid 3pt shooting(couple years with short line excluded)

In before Lebron wins a title next year, turns down his player option with the Heat, takes 2 years off to pursue another interest, comes back and signs a 3 year contract with the Cavs, 3peats with the Cavs, retires, does NOT come back with the Wizards.

edit: Or maybe 4 year contract with Cavs to try to one-up MJ...imagine the drama and intrigue there would be if Lebron did this and everyone could see his obvious plan once he signed the 4 year deal, its just the perfect NBA storyline imo

Would be pretty funny if he did another decision special and was like "I've made my decision, I'm going to take 2 years off of basketball to pursue my lifelong dream of being a minor league baseball player. Nah, just kidding, I'm staying in South Beach and winning more rings with the Heat!"

I think the quickest way for LeBron to be considered GOAT would be to win 4 straight. No one's done that since Russell's Celtics, and that was a way different situation with an 8-team league that was half-white. That would put him past Jordan IMO.

If we're considering Wade the second best player on Miami, he might have the worst playoff numbers for a second best player on a title team ever.

LeBron took his team further in the playoffs than MJ at ages 21, 22, 23, 24, and 26. Jordan took his team further at age 25 only. Bron's winning.

Bron has great equity, especially if he starts to play with that game 7 WIM going forward

However, depth into playoffs isn't a great argument as Jordan got stopped by those Pistons while Lebron was in the leastern conference

agreed. if he wins the next two in a row it will pretty much immediately cement him as GOAT. he certainly doesn't need to win 4 straight to become GOAT but that's def the quickest path.

Bron played a ton of really good Eastern teams in the playoffs when he was in Cleveland. Played the mega-elite peak Celtics teams twice, the champion Pistons twice, and the one really, really good Dwight Howard Magic team that was setting 3-point records left and right.

At identical ages Lebron is better imho. Guess we have some waiting to do to decide the end result. Lebron's game is more complete imho.

Is Lebron the GOAT isn't the most interesting discussion to be having (obv hes not, yet). The one we should be having is, at this point, is he ahead of Kobe on the GOAT list? I would say it's close, and I know Kobe has 5 yadayadayada, but 3 of those were with Shaq in his prime. No one ever says pippen is in the convo because he has 6. Kobe was most definitely second fiddle on that team and 3 of his championships.
