Re: Mike Trout Discussion - best player under 25 in mlb

A buddy of mine and I had a huge debate over Trout vs. Harper today. He is very convinced that Trout will win the MVP this year. Is he that much of a favorite right now? I know he's having an absolutely insane season but is he really that much of a clear favorite or is my friend insane?

Also, he is convinced that Trout has the bigger upside and is a better overall player than Harper but I think Harper's potential is pretty much unlimited from watching him since he was a phenom in Las Vegas.

boesch hit over .340 the first half of '09(i think) and now he's leading the league in negative war. id lay 5:1 on him winning mvp.

lol @ comparing Trout to Boesch. I'd snap bet Trout to win MVP for any amount if you are going to lay 5:1

rookie centerfielder trout leads the al in fwar, and is second in the al to brett lawrie in rwar (he should be first in that too; lawrie is good but drs is giving him way too much credit for toronto's shift)

ridiculous offense

.345/.402/.543
.418 woba
168 wrc+ (3rd in mlb)

trout's not just running hot. leading free projection system zips has him as a true talent ~5 war player as a 20 year old rookie.

he is the next great centerfielder and probably the best player under 25, and possibly the best player under 26 in baseball. trout may currently be the most valuable asset in mlb.
hey phildo.... i wanna know where he came from,,, high school , college.... next time post his wiki

never heard of this dude, but i dont follow baseball its too slow and boring. i follow football and basketball and the olympics

where did he go to college? how tall is he and his weight?

40 yard dash time? does he steal bases?

This post made me go back and look at the 2000 Redsox. Good God.

Re: Mike Trout Discussion - best player under 25 in mlb

he's definitely an underdog to win the MVP, probably at least 2/1 against, a lot of that comes from the voters being idiots

ARod 96 is a good starting point, it's doubtful Trout will finish with a better year than ARod did that year, and ARod lost to a bum, Trout should have legit competition for the MVP on merit

he was awarded a scholarship at east carolina university but was drafted 25th overall in first round of the mlb draft by the angels in 09 and chose to sign with them instead of attending college.

officially listed at 6'1" 210 lbs.

baseball uses a 60 yard dash. apparently he ran a 6.38 60. this is slightly faster than blazing fast mlb outfielders jacoby ellsbury and brett gardner.

yes he steals bases. 30/33 so far in mlb (26/29 this season) and 108/136 in the minors. he appears to be quite good at it.

I'd like to see where this kid is at 2 years from now. I don't see him having any major issues but at the same time I've seen guys have 1 good year and then "fall off the map" so to speak.

I think he is legit though and not a matter of running hot

The thing is this isnt some out of nowhere heater, this is pretty close to how good he is (his babip is ~50 points too high) and his power still continues to develop
