But they had that one whistleblower who could barely write a coherent email even to senior NFL executives that happened to have those napkin ledgers laying around for years after being fired they year after they won the Super Bowl for constantly lying about where he was when skipping work. How can you doubt that guy? You know how crappy or shady you have to be to get canned immediately following a Super Bowl win?

Goodell's reception in New Orleans should be interesting for the Super Bowl. Dirtydiana should probably just be perma'd after his/her/its performance in this thread and the Loomis wiretapping thread.

I'll admit it, I was dead wrong about this. I've lost all respect for Goodell and he has no credibility with me going forward.

was this ever posted ITT? Now keep in mind this is one of hte "key witnesses" in this case

"So I have info on Saints Joe Vitt Lying to your NFL Investigators on Bounties from 2010, along with proof!!! I was there, in the cover up meetings, with players and Joe, I love the NFL and want to work there again, but I am afraid if I tell thge truth I will never coach again in NFL, But I was fired for a situation that the Saints encourage. All I want is a Job back in the NFL as a QC Coach anywhere, so If talking to you jepodizes that I will have to get back to you, but The Saints are a Dirty Organization. Contact me."

Sort of. Depends on how seriously you take the witnesses and statements.

Will be nice if we can get the entire transcript from the meeting but last I read that won't be happening, although it may have been leaked.

Most likely, the Saints were doing some bounty stuff (the length and breadth of which won't ever be known) and Goodell went absolutely ape-**** with punishing them, like wellllllll beyond the pale of anything before.

Then, when the players (rightly) said "prove it" he dug his heels in and told them to **** off. They took him to the cleaners over their right to due process, won pretty handily, and the case against them fell apart once the facts came in front of an impartial arbiter.

The LOLSaints stuff is mostly Williams running a bounty program, Vitt for either running a bounty program or lying about doing it (depending on how much of what he says you can trust), Payton allowing it (if you think he knew about it), several of the coaches for messing with the investigation and Brees for DEMANDING an explanation.

Players get off, Saints season still ruined.

Cerullo's email? Yeah probably, was sort of a big deal.

It can be easy to dismiss though, if you assume he'd lie to get another job/some publicity then it's just sour grapes.

Don't think anyone would hope to win their way back into the close-nit coaching fraternity by being a snitch, but meh, who knows.

Reads like it was written by a Saints fan but it's still a good write up.

Where the **** is that ledger?? If I'm an enemy of Goodell I'm going HAM at him for making **** up.

just don't see why payton would leave brees for Romo. I think it's 100% he stays in Nola; i think ppl are just trying to find a story and a lot of the pieces would be in place if he would be interested in that

Noze/Nath's and I are never going to agree on whether or not there was bounty stuff here but stuff like this reads funny to me:

" League investigators came to the team wanting to interview members of the Saints organization about a bounty program. Williams and Joe Vitt recommended Hargrove tell the league there was no bounty or bounty program. This was not asking Hargrove to lie. This was actually keeping him honest."

Yup, just the average "Hey man, the cops are here, make sure to tell them the truth. Just a friendly reminder!"...

His family lives in Dallas, and as a result he would be able to spend more time with his kids. I heard that he also could potentially receive more money by going to Dallas as well. Many people that are competitive like Sean like challenges, and what greater than bringing a super bowl to America`s team. Lastly, he could decide to go so he can get a fresh start after missing this season. I don`t know if he will leave NO but I can understand the appeal of going to Dallas, and if it didn`t exist he probably wouldn`t have leaked the info that his contract was nulified at the end of the season.

Benson already leaked that he's probably going to make Payton the highest paid coach in the league and Payton already told Jay Glazer he absolutely plans on staying. Yet another overblown story.

Read the whole thing. He addresses every single piece of evidence, so some of his defenses might be more specious than others, but on the whole it is very good work.

And to the point, most of the evidence used is of questionable veracity and while it could be used to support the idea of a bounty program if you presume there is one, it doesn't of its own merits suggest one.

Another purely legal thing. Vilma can't sue Goodell thanks to the CBA.
