Oh, shut up. Eli's 0-2 with way worse numbers than Vick. Is that gonna make you admit that HE sucks?

I mean, I know Vick played terrible tonight, but it's not some giant revelation that if you don't block for the QB and you lose the turnover battle 5-0, you're probably gonna lose the game.

chip certainly did stuff wrong given the insane standard you set him to. kicked a fg on like the 10 on 4th & 3, punted on like the chiefs 45 on 4th & 10.
the stupid 2 pt conversion attempt*.

chip's offense is awesome, but LOL at 'he did nothing wrong' given how hard you nitpicked other coaches to death this offseason with their passiveness.

*note, going for 2 is probably fine, but when the "trick play" you set up is clearly going to fail, and you have a super read offense that is built to get 2 yards, maybe just try something else

i also don't see what eli has to do with anything. like at all. he's not a qb on my fav team, really just irrelevant besides the fact that if you multiplied vick & rivers rang count by seven trillion and then added it to the # of times cam has quarterbacked a winning nfl team it still would be less than ELITE'S rang total.

the thing wrong with the 2pc is it didn't appear that the snapper knew not to snap the ball if it wasn't there and just take the delay and kick the xp because it sure didn't look like it was there (since it appeared the play was designed and couldn't be audibled into another lane) or the snapper thought it was there and snapped idk.

I would've just ESTABLISHED some offensive play tho since you have two pretty good runners back there.

I really hate using ypg to measure offenses/defenses and I've thought about creating a new metric to rank them but everyone I keep thinking of I keep finding a few flaws in those as well. Probably no matter there will be at least one flaw tho. still might do this and see what people think about it as I've thought about it for a couple years and I've got some ideas on what I think would be better (but no matter what there will be some DVOA type adjustment on it due to schedules)

That's because he is an average QB at best. Sure, he can make one good throw here and there. He also turns it over (every year) and he's not great at reading defenses. You turn the QB's around in that game and Philly wins it by a mile. Shady is like the modern version of Barry Sanders: stuck with a ****ty team and a terrible QB.

I don't care if my QB runs once a game for 40 yards. I want consistent, good decisions and no turnovers. Meanwhile Kaepernick is running around in SF and Frank Gore is posting career low running numbers to start the year. Having a running QB when you have a great RB is just a complete waste, IMO.

Alex Smith > Michael Vick. I'd make that trade any day of the week.

The punt on 4th and 11 was close enough that the advancednflstats calculator has punting as the best option. The 4th and 3, they probably should have gone for it, but that's a spot that Chip never went for it even at Oregon, and that no NFL coach ever ever ever thinks about going for it. Don't really think it's a big deal.

And yeah, the 2 point play is a player read at the line. If the players on the field made the wrong play, that doesn't mean Chip should take it out of the playbook. It means they're still learning and they'll be better in a few weeks.

LOL, what a joke. Alex Smith played terrible too. Don't remember him completing a pass over 10 yards in the air. Vick at least broke some big runs. Alex Smith did nothing. He just sat there like a deer in the headlights, praying the Eagles would give the game away and he got lucky enough that they eventually did.

The bizarre thing to me is how people are now blaming Chip for this roster. People realize the team has sucked for years, right? He inherited this; he didn't build it. I'm not even trying to defend him as much as I'm just genuinely confused as to how people can blame him for it.

This is the simplistic, "I know nothing about Chip Kelly except what ESPN tells me" defense. Google Chip's Xs and Os stuff. Go watch film on the simplistic-yet-complex offensive schemes he runs. He wrote a whole manifesto type thing that is just absurdly good. But yes, let's write him off because of the trash Reid left behind on defense. That makes way more sense.
But you're giving him a pass for a scheme which could easily be responsible for his defense getting worse. Presumably they are facing more possessions too.

Dudes a genius offensive scheme guy. But this whole chip GOAT before he ever coached a game is maddening.

Again, this isn't me being a rhetorical dick because I don't know.

What personnel changed from last year where they were average to now WOAT?

Kelly had the #4 draft pick and burned it on what is turning out to be a garbage Lane Johnson.

His second pick (#35) was TE Zach Ertz

Finally at pick #67 he selected a defensive player in Bennie Logan, only to follow that up with QB Matt Barkley at #98.

4 picks in the first 100 and he chose 1 defensive player, who can barely get in the game at this point as evidenced by his 1 tackle in ~110 minutes that the defense has been on the field this season.

He's in charge of the team and the drafting. As such, he is plenty to blame for the defense.

It's not a good start for Chip.

I'll grant that I may have been overrating him, and the lols are definitely warranted based on me and others crowning his ass after one half.

Still would take Chip over almost any HC in the league, and I still think he'll be wildly successful.

As a fantasy owner of Jamaal Charles, I happen to think that Alex "dumpoff" Smith played an absolutely PERFECT game. Throwing "deep" to "wide receivers" is a total waste of valuable plays.

Oh, and on topic, the key point in this game was definitely LOL Vick. Though the o-line didn't help him out. Defense played pretty well, really, given the spots they were put in. Except when it was third down. What I'm really looking forward to seeing is Chip and Mariota reunited next year. Then the offense will be insane! Because obviously the Eagles need to use their first round pick on an offensive player next year. Maybe they should get him a second good wide receiver in round two, also, come to think of it.
