Aren't players prohibited from entering casinos during the season? I'm sure this will lead to disciplinary issues eventually.

I just assumed every stadium seat would include a slot machine. How could that not be the plan?

Oh man, and the torture of only being able to focus on 1 NFL game when you've got a 4-team parlay going on.

A lot and yes.

Vegas really isn't that far for people in so cal. For people in the Inland Empire and close to the 15 already you are talking about just a 3 hour drive. Other parts of L.A. and OC can add up to an hour possibly but if you leave at the right time it should never be more than a 4 hour drive. Also there are thousands of people in Vegas every weekend that drove or rode in from southern california as it is already. I know a lot of people that go to Vegas for one night or a day on turnaround trips. A lot of people in socal also make desert and river weekend trips on multiple occasions through out the year. Going out to vegas to see the raiders a handful to 8 times a year would be the equivalent. This is anecdotal but there was I guy at my table just last night with a raiders hat on and the vegas thing came up. He was talking about how pumped he was for vegas and that the bay area drive sucked and that vegas is "nothing" drive wise. Southern Californians account for about a quarter of all visitors to Vegas annually. I think the southern california fan presence is going to be significant and something Vegas and the Raiders are actually counting on.

Funny watching Final Four after this LV debacle

One, NCAA nowhere close to bringing an event of such magnitude to "sin city".

Two, Glendale is in the desert and has 65k seats or thereabouts. It hosts major event after major event. It's pretty much everything one hopes to get out of a big stadium in "new" events - NCAA Final Four, BCS playoffs, Gold Cup games, and so on. OK, so no MLS and doesn't share with a college. However, it only cost ~$534 million in today's dollars. What is Vegas getting for the additional $1.3 billion?! That's the big question. This is all about lining NFL owners' (and BoA's from what's insinuated thus far) pockets and not about the community at all. Sure, I'll like having the Raiders around but it's damn insulting when they talk about how this is for the community.

Brilliant move by Vegas. It's clear the Raiders needed a giant handout.

Nothing like using taxes to fund welfare for the rich (as Glendale shows you can easily build a top stadium seating ~65k for the masses for a third the cost) or as a giant subsidy so the franchise can pay a guy who hasn't coached in a decade like he's Belichick. Just brilliance.
