I agree, Vegas is not capable of having a typical, loyal community/fanbase. But what if you take my previous post, and make it tempting to become a fan. You need your home crowd to root for the home team; that has never been in question so intensely until now...so how about making the betting odds favoured for the home team, only when you are betting within the arena, in your seat.

So, when the home team scores, they actually have people cheering for them and not ripping up their tickets. The minds/money behind this team better not be idealists, and understand their handicaps and adjust accordingly.

The trip won't hinge on that decision. Will they see a hockey game while in town? Why not?

Because there is a lot of other more fun stuff to do at night in Vegas besides watch ice hockey. If you are paying for a trip to Vegas, going to see an ice hockey game has a pretty high opportunity cost. Namely, that you aren't doing "Vegas stuff".

Sure, some people will do that but it's not going to be nearly as much as 72 was making it sound like. You can see a hockey game and still have plenty of time to go out afterwards but still my point is pretty valid. It would be like wasting time in Vegas to go watch a 3 hour movie you can see when you get back home.

I live in Alberta and can get to an Edmonton game in one hour and a Calgary game in two hours. My favourite team is Detroit so I can plan to see Detroit play in Calgary or Edmonton without going to Vegas.

Also, when Canadians want to go to Vegas do you really think they want to watch hockey. Pretty much no place in Canada is far from a major Junior team or an NHL team. Why would we plan to watch hockey when during the winter all we have is hockey??

If I am Vegas I am seeing some shows, golfing, gambling. I am not going to a hockey game.

I think Phoenix works well for Canadians for road trips because there are lots of guys going down to golf and Phoenix not having the Vegas Nightlife would make seeing a hockey game a good fit. Plus, tons of Canadians seasonally living in Arizona.

Also as a tourist I am not cabbing to an arena to watch a hockey game just to much to do in Vegas.

can they build the stadium on top of a hotel? like on the 50th story? and no roof? u play outside at night, 50 stories high and during the game cocaine is legal so that the crowd dosn't fall asleep from watching this sport. strippers dance on ice btwn periods. and exotic animals get to sit near the rink with bottle service and hot models who pet the animals. and before each game mike tyson has to sing the canadian nation anthem.

Pretty unlikely to happen imo (city seems too touristy) but it would instantly get me to follow the NHL. I've tried a couple of times and the sport is pretty exciting but it's just too tough to pick a random team.

NFL is easy cause I've been a Raiders fan forever, only casually follow BB but lived in Oklahoma long enough to mildly support OKC (helps that they have a fun team, too) + season ticket holder for soccer LDO

NHL...pretty much no connection but I love randomly watching games. Would be pretty elite to have a LV team that you can follow from the start and geek out about roster stuff and the like.
