I tried to find a picture that would anger people. Apparently, that is a picture of him with Brandel Chamblee's hair. LOL.

Since last May he's got 7 worldwide wins. 2 majors, 2 WGCs, 1 regular PGA Tour event (today) and 2 Euro Tour events.

That's a pretty Tigerrific "year". Not that I expect him to do that basically every year like Tiger did but that's an absurd last 12 months.

The PGA is being played there in 2017 so just add another major to his collection.

Quail Hollow seems like a really good course. Some great risk/reward shots. It also looks lush and pretty with decent elevation change. They had some dry patches in the fairways this year but it's definitely worthy of being a major venue and I'm looking forward to that 2017 PGA Championship.

Next major is the US Open. No idea how that's going to play out. Should make for fun viewing but it might be really tough for scoring.

Here's how I rank the US major rota venues since 2011:

Merion ('13 US Open)
Valhalla ('14 PGA)
Atlanta Athletic Club ('11 PGA)
Kiawah Island ('12 PGA)
Congressional ('11 US Open)
Oak Hill ('13 PGA)
Olympic Club ('12 US Open)
Pinehurst #2 (lol) ('14 US Open)

I really didn't care for Olympic or Pinehurst. Really enjoyed Merion. I think Chambers Bay and Whistling Straits will both rank top half of this list.

Quail Hollow seems to punish the reckless bombers leading to guys like Furyk doing well on the course. Rory being the best driver of the ball since at least Greg Norman gives him an absurd advantage since he can still bomb it and abuse the course. I like the course quite a bit.

**** Merion. I was less than 2 feet away from winning a Lexus in the hole in one challenge there

Having said that, it was an exceptional tournament and getting to hang out (albeit briefly) with Natalie Gulbis and Mark O'Meara was fun!

I think 10 years from now Rory will be the better golfer and will be one of the GOAT. IDK if hell be better than Tiger when Rorys carrer comes to an end.

But as an American I will root for our guy in Jordan Spieth.. But IDK if he will be as good as Rory. As much as I wanna believe he will, Only time will tell....

Let's Go Jordan!

I guess I just don't understand people who can't bring themselves to root for Rory because he's not American. Golf is an individual sport - I don't care where you were born. Do people prefer Andy Roddick (lol) over the actual tennis GOATs? No. I mean Americans actively root against Serena.

Ryder Cup time I'm all about USA USA USA because it makes the event funner to dive in like that but outside that I just want to see golfers hit 364 yard drives in the fairway and **** and go on to win a lot.

Besides, you get the sense Rory begrudgingly remains much more Euro than he wants to. It took him a long time to determine he'd play for Ireland in the Olympics. He's called the Ryder Cup an exhibition in the past. Europe needs him to keep it more even. The truth is, most of these Euros are way more American than people think. A lot of them played college golf here. Rory lives in Florida... has an NBA box, charters flights to Vegas to watch boxing. Guy is American. He is on record as saying he prefers American style golf over links golf and want to play in 80 degrees and sun and little wind and hit sky high approach shots.

There was a great joke someone said about the last Ryder Cup. Europe the country continent won and someone said there was going to be a huge party when all the Euros got back to Florida.

Even Europe's most celebrated golfer, Sir Nick Faldouche, chose WEST VIRGINIA over anywhere in Europe to live. The simple fact is once people (at least those with money) come to the USA they ****ing stay here because it's GOATville. You can feel free to pull yourself out of the shackles and root for "Euro" golfers. Otherwise you're just going to miss out on a very special player. All for American Pride that doesn't mean anything in golf.

Exactly. Don't blame Rory b/c his ancestors weren't as evolved as ours. If he settles down and has a family, his kids will almost certainly be raised in, if not born in, MERICA.

Spieth playing well this week with a chance to win at Colonnial. I think he's had two triples this week, too, but he's still in it. They are playing LCP through the green so they get to improve their lies in the rough. Don't recall seeing that before.

Rory missed the cut at Wentworth or whatever it's called. They were saying some players didn't play the BMW PGA Championship this year b/c they didn't like adjustments made to the course. Maybe a valid criticism when Rory misses the cut and some guy named Byeong-hun An wins by 6 strokes.

Even Ian Poulter, whose mom gave birth to him on the 7th green, opted to play at Colonnial in USA rather than there. Wow. I don't know what they did to the course but that's hard to believe.

Senior PGA Championship final round on today. It's a beautiful Pete Dye course that also televises beautifully but looks unreasonably penal and probably unfair. And I think it can play at 8,100 yards! I kinda hate Pete Dye designs. He needs to be put out to pasture. I took a few family vacations to French Lick in the early '90s so I have fond memories of this area. Though this course was of course not there yet.

Weird. He won it last year and won last week by a mile. I am unfamiliar with the course changes they made. I wonder if they modified the AIDS that is hole 18

I have no idea what they did, either. I just heard the announcers say some of the players weren't too happy with the changes. Surely, Rory's play had a lot more to do with him MCing than any changes they might have made.

As far as I can tell (I don't really read the golf subforum) most people like Rory on 2+2. Seems like you are conjuring up a narrative to make it RORY AGAINST THE WORLD G10 style in response to USA #1 by none other than G10 himself.

I personally just want to see how it plays out, but will cheer more for Spieth right now to become as good as Rory.

That was because it's a pretty complicated matter for him. He's from Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom. However, in golf, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are combined under the same umbrella of Golf Ireland. But in the Olympics, the Republic of Ireland is one country and Northern Ireland is part of the UK (Great Britain and Northern Ireland Olympic Team). This hasn't come up before because golf wasn't in the Olympics.

And there's a lot of painful history (bombings, assassinations etc.) in Northern Ireland with one half of the population wanting to be part of the Republic and the other half wanting to remain a part of the Union. So McIlroy would piss off half of Northern Ireland by playing for the Republic, and by playing for the United Kingdom, he'd piss off the other half, plus many in the rest of Ireland. And he doesn't want to get into the middle of all that (I just read he had a great-uncle killed in the Northern Irish "troubles").

Well I can't post in golf so I'd be lying if I wasn't looking for ways to post itt and stir up debate, to get my golf fix. I really wanted to start a Players thread in SE since the last WGC thread in Golf got like 7 replies and they were all about Keegan Bradlaids, but I rightly assumed Butthurt Tuggle would come in and delete the thread immediately. At least Clark created it. But to answer your question, Rory isn't liked or appreciated close to as much as he "should" be.

Many reasons for this.

1) He's short and ugly and his nipples often show through his shirt. I don't care about this but a lot of people want their heroes to be sexy as hell. Read into that what you will.
2) He's not from USA#1
3) People call him a fatty at heart or something.
4) He can be cocky at times, and it rustles people.
5) Mickelson seems to hate him and he's hugely popular so people will side with Phil.
6) They probably think of him as just a bomber who can't actually play true golf or whatever.
7) Child prodigy = hard to relate to
8) Tooth excuse
9) Club throwing
10) When Tiger was down he said people "fancy their chances" against him, which rustled the Tiger riders.
11) Media concocts a "He's the next Tiger ZOMGZORS!" narrative, and people let it get to them, which is silly.
12) His gait, much like that of Dustin Johnson, angers people

But he's 26 and has 4 majors and double digit Tour wins plus some loleuro wins. Most Tour wins by a non-American under the age of 30 EVER, with 3+ years to add to that. More majors than Vijay. As many as Ernie Els (though Els lacks the PGA), 1 shy of Phil. One of the greatest drivers of the golf ball in history, has unreal distance with all clubs.

He'll never be Tiger but who the hell cares. At least he'll supplant Sir Faldouche as the best and most decorated Euro golfer OAT. And possibly Player I guess as the best non-USA player OAT.

I thought ARC was gonna post about Chris Kirk overtaking Justin Rose for that number 1 spot on the Official PGA Tour Cuckold list.

After this week, the Cuckold ranking look like this:

1. Chris Kirk 2736
2. Justin Rose 2390
3. Bubba Watson 1563
4. Brandt Snedeker 1148

I mean I definitely hate seeing Jim Furyk's face on my TV and have said so in the past, especially when he's taking 6 minutes to line up a 4-footer that he misses. But if he played like Rory I'd look past it is what I'm saying.

Also, Phil shows visible nips a lot and people love that about him. Phil's more mooby, though, whereas Rory has a chest but just bottom 5% nipples.

#3 and #12 were definitely posted by 2p2ers. GJGE.

#6 I could definitely imagine "purists" like BO not appreciating Rory to the full extent because his talent is so distance heavy. But maybe that's not a reason. I was just trying to think of reasons people don't like Rory.

If you took Rory's swing, game, and results, and gave them to like Rickie Fowler or some other likeable American he would be insanely popular.

Weren't you the guy who ****-talked YOUNG RICKIE just hours before he nutted all over the field at The Players?
