That's really not that unusual for a player to have a plateau year early in their career before making large strides. Chris Paul didn't improve at all from age 20 to 21, and then had one of the best PG seasons of all time at age 22. Durant's numbers regressed from 09/10 to 10/11 before jumping right back up this year.

it's hard to regress when you aren't that good defensively to begin with. i suppose some of this could be blamed on not having a very competent coach as well.

i think blake did get a little better, or at least appears to have added some things to his game that will improve his ceiling long term. i think the $ecret $tat$ have him a little better

Re: If they re-drafted the entire NBA

i found myself getting to #7 and not really loving any of my options. pg's have become so overrated nowadays.

lebron (odds he gets 3 rings in the next 5 years > durant's imo)
durant (should theoretically get more than lebron, but past 5 years out, anything could happen)
dwight howard
kevin love (could be lower, but still top 10)
russel westbrook
anthony davis (if he is what everyone says he is, than he should actually be higher)
deron williams (best pg in the league, only catch-and-shoot knock down shooting pg in l, just needs a squad and more desire, maybe they are pos. correlated)
demarcus cousins (will be best pf if he keeps his head, derrick coleman 2nd coming; unlike blake, he is skilled offensively with comparable beastliness)
greg monroe (only center i can think of that still has solid upside; lamarcus and m gasol have peaked; i hate (on) bynum)
nick young (swaggy p, no brainer obv)

honorable mention: kyrie (most efficient pg off dribble out of cp3, nash, rondo, others - and can shoot off catch, and seems to have capacity to diversify his game, great size)

Blake def got better. He also got quite a few people mad in the playoffs against Memphis. I've posted a bunch of stat comparisons before where Blake would have to be a huge outlier to not be a perennial top 5-10 player ITL. So underrated on this board

And why is Monroe so much > than Blake? Their D is a wash and GM plays a ton more C minutes.

Yeah I hate Blake more than anyone but come on he's still > Monroe. I don't see much difference in their defense or defensive ceilings.

Re: If they re-drafted the entire NBA

i really underrated blake on 2nd thought. basically hated on him. was looking at all the bigs and kept ignoring him over and over for some reason, not sure why. his upside offensively is actually quite huge, even if he never is that great of a defender. he should be ahead of monroe for sure.

bynum is an injury risk, his motor is the worst, and he is materially slower than monroe rotating and showing.

i look at monroe and think he still has upside offensively (jumpshot where his form looks fine, and he's 22; he practically has to get a jumpshot at some point). he has a motor and he will fill out a little more too. defensively, there is no reason to believe he won't improve, as defense is a lot about smarts and experience and knowing where you need to be. seems like the effort is there - maybe someone who has seen him more can correct me.

Lebron's got 6-7 seasons of solid ball ahead of him, so he should be nr. 1. I know Dwight has about 1 offensive move in his arsenal, but that's one more than what Griffin has. If his legs go he's done, I don't see the upside or the basketball IQ in him that makes him a good prospect for the long run. I'd rather take Love who is a better rebounder, better shooter and a better player.

Blake is a highlight player. Love scores points and gets rebounds.
