I think the prime time match ups are the problem. Not the games themselves.

As someone who watches red zone on Sunday days there are plenty is good games. They just aren't scheduled at night.

Some of it is scheduling (i.e. All the bears games) and some is just bad luck. Hard to know ahead of time games like chiefs-steelers, jets-cardinals and giants-Vikings would be non competitive.

The Bears are clearly the problem. Just unreal how they get 4 primetime games. They were horrendous last year, and there is no reason to think they would actually be good this year.

Texans aren't helping either. 3 games on primetime, and they've been terrible in all of them except for the last 5 minutes against the Colts. Oh yeah, and they have TWO more games in primetime. Not sure why they always play so poorly in primetime.

Chicago and Houston are big markets, no? I think having teams in bigger markets or wide spread fan bases (think PIT) is more appealing then marquee match ups.

More appealing to who? I surely didn't want to watch the Bears in primetime at all this year.

Widespread fan bases are far more important than just large markets. Large markets can see their team anytime and Sunday ratings really aren't down this year. If you want the casual fan for a nationally aired game, you need to have more teams like Pittsburgh and GB. If you want to draw in the actual fans, you need marquee matchups. Obviously both is better. Putting the Bears on 4 times helps neither really. Houston is even worse since pretty much no one outside of Texas is a fan.

Bears are right behind the NFC East ratings wise. Dallas draws the most regardless of record. Even a bad bears game usually beats 2 good non NFCE teams playing in the ratings (maybe not this season since I haven't looked it up but traditionally they do)

Really Houston loses in primetime because they're usually forced to play a better team. ****ty QB vs elite Defense in primetime isn't a recipe for ratings success.

Think we can blame Houston a bit, it's a weak ratings fanbase since it's too new.

That said a lot of teams are all much weaker for the lol olds in the ratings so there's only so much you can do. I mean they stick the Jags/Titans/Browns/Bills/etc etc to one TNF game.

SNF has been fine this year. Only Hou Ind looked bad on paper coming into the year so far but that was still 26-23. Bears Cowboys you have to remember was supposed to be Cutlahh vs Romo and that would've been nothing but lols.

There isn't a game worth flexing out for awhile too.
