Re: Hollywood Dynasty Draft Discussion

Just finished Spartacus, and was extremely pleased. I don't typically care for the epic, cast-of-thousands type films but I really enjoyed it. Of the Kubrick films I've now seen, I'd rank them thusly:

2001 (10/10)
The Shining (10/10)
FMJ (10/10)
Spartacus (9/10)
Eyes Wide Shut (8/10)
A Clockwork Orange (7/10)

Rating C.O. 7/10 doesn't mean I'm rating it a 7 compared to typical films, but a 7 compared to the top baseline of his, which I consider 2001 to be.

I had a hard time getting to sleep last night because I kept thinking about how good FMJ is. I was trying to put into words how good it is, and the only thing I can think of is this:

It's difficult to watch it all time and again, because afterwards I always feel uneasy and a bit of disdain for humanity, and it occured to me that this is how the viewer should feel after watching an accurate portrayal of war. I'm not sure there is a greater feeling of disgust one can get than that from fighting in war, but when I watch FMJ, like no other film, it is the closest I've felt to knowing that level of disgust. Through the medium of film, at least.

Any update from Nath/KC? Should we just assume that they'll be too busy pleasuring women in Dionysian orgies (What I always assume people do when they're not online) to check in and give us an update/estimated time of picking?

Re: Hollywood Dynasty Draft Discussion

Late last night KC said that he hoped to have the selection up today. Doesn't look like it's gonna happen. This thread needs a spark.

Fuggit, I'm chosing for them. I choose (for Nath and KC) Dustin Diamond, Actor. If whomever chooses 7th doesn't select by midnight tonight, they get Lark Voorhies.

Almost as good a value at this point as Marilyn Monroe.

NO PRESSURE. NO PRESSURE. NO PRESSURE UNTIL AFTER NEW YEAR'S. bunch of a-holes, including McBobbo, putting pressure on us.

sorry it's been a little hard coordinating because we've both been moving around for the holidays, so it's hard to communicate. Plus we didn't have any real time to plan. After the holidays it'll be much easier.

We have a tentative decision, a very very good one in my opinion who's guaranteed to go in the next 3 picks. We are willing to trade if it's juicy enough, because our studio is bigger than our leading man.

We have one offer from NozeCandy we're considering. flyingmoose has expressed interest but made no offer. I'll do a bit of aggressive pick shopping between now and the EOD. If we can't work out a deal, we'll post our pick, which is probably BPA at this point.

This co-ownership stuff is really gonna slow things down, not help.

It can help. In the NFL draft thread there are plenty of times where I have made picks for Myrmidon when he wasn't around. The thing is co-owners need to agree on a pick before it is their turn.
