In to run a corrupt studio which pumps out bloated blockbusters devoured by the masses but really is just a cover to get the studio head grade A ass.

Good point. There goes my plan to take Dick Van Dyke first overall.

nath,

I'm only interested in making Adam Sandler and Chris Farley style comedies. Since you seem like a level headed individual, I assume we're in agreement on this.

Big thing is if you feel their comedy falls flat, so will others... So they have far less value. Some were quite smart/inventive/creative and I bet given a good writeup could be quite excellent in today's world.

Ok, to hit the nail on the head: Similar to the drafting of linemen in the modern era NFL draft, where you assume weight goes up slightly, so should popular mores/etc. in terms of understanding. BUT, if it's too hard to stretch the person from that era to now, it's probably a bad pick

i think that's a smrt drafting move; stay away from all non moneymen of the older generation

Count me IN.

I'm unemployed so this should keep me busy.

But I guess I don't really understand it. After we draft, how do we determine who "wins"?

Is there a Jewish version of sim-city where I can practice how to run Hollywood?

Fine by me I guess, I was thinking a pretty generous cutoff like mid 50s or 1960s which is really when the studio system died and modern cinema came into its own. Just don't bitch when people start drafting dudes like Sergei Eisenstein and nobody has any idea what the **** anyone is talking about anymore.

No, this is free. If you need money to be apart of this, then you're not in.

The criterion for "winning" (if we ever get around to that) is again think of your "team" as a movie company that controls the rights to those actors/actresses. You could make any sort of movies you want; the broader/more types you can produce, generally the better. BUT, the more indepth (if you have a full studio devoted to horror flicks) you could be a very successful company as well.
Yeah I agree with keeping it free. If people wanted to pool money in independently and have the highest ranked person in that pool win the cash, that would be easy enough to do. Might consider it myself.

I'm pretty proficient with movies I just have no idea how to approach this draft so I'd be glad to be co-owners with you if you're down.
