I feel sorry for you, they're fantastic.

Chick Fil A employees are also significantly more competent and more polite than average fast food employees.

I think I read somewhere that they lead the industry in employee retention, which speaks to their training and leadership.

Their franchise model is also way better. You essentially have to be poor to get one, and you have to be on site all the time.

Round 4: Sports Rivalry

Manning vs. Brady? Come on now.

Let's go back to a time before definitely-not-the-GOAT Colin Kaepernick decided to take a knee in protest, before maybe-the-GOAT Michaal Jordan used his stardom to market shoes, to a time when boxing was a worldwide phenomenon, to a time when the stakes for protest were magnified to levels our generation can't really comprehend.

Spoiler:

Muhammed Ali vs The World

Ali developed rivalries with the other two great boxers of the era - Joe Frazier and George Foreman, and would be involved in several fights so great they needed names: "Fight of the Century", "Thrilla in Manilla", "Rumble in the Jungle".

But to limit this selection to one of those rivalries would seem petty, and would diminish his true impact.

A black man in 60s / 70s America, Ali was outspoken on his opposition to racial oppression, injustice, and to American involvement in Vietnam, to the point that he was actually suspended for 3 years for his protest activities. Ali proclaimed himself the greatest, and set out to take on the world. And he did.

All told, Muhammed Ali is in the conversation as the most transcendent athlete ever in terms of his impact on both sport and the world.

Just wait until I go meta with my picks, Shimmy.

I know I'm still several picks away, but when I leave work in an hour I'll be out until sometime tomorrow afternoon. If it gets to me before then you can skip me, but I will be ready to pick when I get home on Sat.

I assume most will disagree with me here, but I actually think fast food item is pretty shallow. So I'm gonna pick one now while I can still get value.

The year is 1989. Little RM is 5 years old. He goes over to a buddy's house. And discovers a whole new world. A world with unlimited capacity for wasting time. A world totally engrossing in every way. A world where, when trying to shoot ducks in a video game, simply placing the gun literally on the graphic duck and shooting doesn't kill it. A world where the main character "rescues" the same character like 10 times in the same game because she inexplicably leaves every time he finds her. You know what I'm talking about:

A series simultaneously engrossing and ridiculous. And the annoying as **** but still somehow compelling music. The OG, the GOAT.

Round 4: Fight Scene

This scene isn't about the amazing moves or pretty looking attacks. It isn't some high-flying martial arts epic. There are thousands of those. This fight is about mood.

Spoiler:

Oldboy (2003) - Hallway Fight Scene

Oh Dae-su isn't a martial artist but he doesn't need to be. This is about his quest for revenge and how even a hallway full of Korean punks won't be enough to stop him. The atmosphere during the fight is perfect. The dark hallway along with the music makes for a perfect setting for the fight of Oh Dae-su's life.

What puts this above the rest imo is the lack of cuts and special effects. This scene was shot in one continuous take which is rare when most fight scenes are constantly changing camera angles and mixing in CGI. The only special effects used were the knife in his back.

I watched the 2013 version of the film for comparison and there is no comparison. Sure, the fight scene has its similarities but they make it appear more grandiose and Dae-su appears invincible when to me the minimalistic design of the scene and the fact that on a couple of occasions it looked like Dae-su was done for was what made it more enjoyable.
