Why put a punter on a team that will never punt? Go find the ****tiest team thats gutted! My punter last season had several games where he got less XP playing in games than training. I need to get him on the kickoff coverage.

I only need like 4 punts a game, and its more fun when youre winning. Plus I get to trash talk more in the forums.

Here's my last season stuff:

It's also missing 1 or 2 games when I had 0 punts. I had 32 punts on the season.

I just love his attitude of "even though you all pay me I'll do whatever I want and you will like it" Other than listening too much to some people he just kinda does seemingly random stuff. I'm glad he tried to do things so anyone who wasn't as integrated as the owners and GM's wouldn't get so bored but some of this stuff is just silly.

I've got to get my punter off my team too--he's got such an awesome build all to waste since we almost never punt

definitely. I was all for boosting my 6 players during the next season, plus maybe create some others....but I've halted all of that for now. Who the hell knows what Bort will do from season to season.

Oh my! You don't think actually being able to aquire items that have special benefits, deciding if using that +5 temporary attribute game or trying to get a permanent +1 is better. A lot of players were getting bored of the game, and this is a good way to keep them interested. It certainly won't make the game any worse. A few things hinted at for the future- play generators, more advanced AIs, etc... definitely shows future. The cluster**** of the tiers along with gutted teams remains my biggest concern, but not being able to train every day seems pretty low on my list of priorities.

why would anyone ever take the +5 game instead of permanent +1 since they cant use it for playoffs, except for real obvious late season situations for bubble teams.

Theres no question what the best strategy is for the new things. Yes more plays and AI would be nice if they worked right and the winning team wasnt the one who found a way to take advantage of the system first (like a two-agent Boston team destroying Detroit and then winning USA Pro by essentially running the same play every down).

Deciding training is the one thing players actually get to do every day and now 1) you cant every day 2) when you do you dont even get immediate attribute increase, it just progresses some bar to add a full point. Youll only be able to get a special item like twice a year and it doesnt sound like it does anything more than equipment now, just adds another point.

You missed the obvious training breakthrough type things. Also, training isn't automatic. You are probably one of the rare people who changes every day. I might change it every couple of days, but not anything significant. I am now being forced to actively train using the tokens. We'll see about the items in the store- sounds like some might be able to help out. The no-playoffs for items does make most of the temporary ones pointless. While not perfect, it certainly makes things more interesting, especially for people who just have players. Its a step in the right direction, even if its not all the way there. There are no "surprises" in how I'm going to train my guy, I might have 8 seasons of what I'm going to do to him planned out. If I can sometimes get a special item that's pretty awesome or get a boost in an attribute through a breakthrough, its something to keep me more interested.

from the looks of it, in like 10 seasons, we're going to be playing a completely different ****ing game than what we played in season 2/3/4 or whatever. whether that is a good thing or a bad thing remains to be seen.

I'm with TC. It seems so far like most of the hate is OMG CHANGE BAD and not based on real reasons.

The only problems I might have with the changes is if unique/rare items are imba, fame is too important or otherwise improperly implemented, or if training breakthroughs add too much luck. But it's too early to tell if any of this is the case or not.

Other than that it looks like this will be a definite step up.

Edit: although DK does have a point that there are probably other things Bort should be working on instead, but this does shore up the causal gamer niche more than those changes would and as long as he does the work he needs to eventually, this will probably be best long term.

This, this, MF this.

The new changes aren't the worst thing in the world, but I really dislike the use of the word "variety". We already have the best training schedule worked out for shoping, and then later for bumping up attributes, so I'm sure others do to.

More over, like DK said, there's exactly zero reason (barring some very obvious bubble spots) to ever take the +5 to one game. It just won't happen. So really, what we're left with is another way of doing exactly ONE thing, not what we should have, which are options each with pros and cons that force choices.

New items apparently cost money as well (more or less depending on the benefit), so the tokens are just to upgrade them. I'm not sure if this helps or hurts, but my feeling is that we'll just see a lot of intense training, and then people getting +4 to one attribute a year since it's pretty likely that there aren't too many pieces that will rival +5 in something like regular equip will.

If the temporary boosts were allowed in the playoffs, it would be a lot more meaningful. Right now the regular season is so meaningless with half the teams getting in the playoffs.

Idea for a new 2+2 team.

I just realized that players who are created now and boost before season 5 starts will be lvl. 13s at the end of season 5 (and lvl. 16s after boosting). If a bunch of 2+2ers do this we can have another 2+2 team that would dominate the league. I'll get on the list for a season 6 expansion team and create a whole O-Line of new players. If anybody else wants in on this poast here. This will be great for everybody who came to the game too late to catch the Brown Trout train.

Yep, because of the fluid schedule of boosting, the reg. seasons doesn't mean a lot right now.

New stuff is up on the training front though, I'm cautiously optimistic about this having seen this.

Nope, just you and Gart for 2 days. I did you a favor imo. SI was complaining to mods, and you'd have gotten worse.
