(Cross-posted in LoL, but figured this would be relevant to SE's interests)

I've come across a fairly interesting football simulation. It's a mmo where you basically create your own football player, pick a position and progress him in a world where even Oceania and Eastern Europe have pro- and minor-leagues. It's pretty much sated my football fix in the last couple days.

Interestingly, there are standard CPU-controlled teams you can receive offers from, but players can also pay to take over ownership of teams using flex points, which is the currency of the game.

Much like any other RPG you control your player's fate by training and getting equipment in various stats and skills. It's the regular season right now and there are games played every other day. The games are just complex simulations based on your statistics and level, but the cool thing is every play of every game is animated.

Apparently the game opened to the public about a week or so ago, so you won't be far behind the curve if that's a concern.

It's a browser-based game which you can get to here:

If you'd like to get me some free flex points, use this referral link:

I just made an OT named Frankenstein O'Gardenburger. Maybe I'll max out his kicking skill points.

I saw a link to this yesterday and made a CB. I signed with the Cheetahs in eastern europe.

Fidel Cashflow (who I didn't realize was a DJ somewhere, instead of just the guitarist for our Rock Band band), DT, the something or other Lions in the Asian Pro Zeta league.

I think this games been growing really fast; I came across this on another forum and that thread blew up fast. This game really seems to appeal to the Madden-playing, fantasy sports loving, armchair athlete crowd (of which I am certainly one).

Anyway, the crazy influx of players seems to have made the servers go down or lag.

Yeah, the site has been struggling today.

I haven't joined a team yet. My brother made a player and we're going to try to get on the same team.

Wooo two tackles and a hurry leading to a pick.

I think it would be/would have been fun to form an all 2+2 team.

I am now on the South Dildo Demons of the Canadian AAA Western Conference. Somehow, even though I've never played, I am the 3rd highest paid player on the team.

My team blew a 10 pt. lead in the last 2.5 minutes. I only made 2 tackles at Free Safety. My name is Ima Killu.

If someone is willing to shell out for the 1000 flex points we can give it a go.

I think all the American leagues' teams have been snatched up by human owners in the rush of popularity this game has undergone. A Canadian pro or minor-league team might still be available.

dlk, any success trying to get on the same team as your bro? A friend and I would like to try that.

How much is there to do each day? It seems like just the training and then if you have a game or not.

Yup. We both got a contract offer from two teams. I also got a third offer that my brother did not get.

All I did was post a message in a few threads where teams were looking for players. I created an OT and my brother made a P, so it probably wasn't as hard to find a team as it would've been if I was a QB and he was a HB or something. I simply said that we were both trying to get on the same team, if possible. I told our positions, our player name (as well as his username, in case that was important), and a tiny bit about the strengths of our players. Some people list their entire stats or link to their profile.

For reference, I got a $39,000/year contract ($975/day) with a $5,000 signing bonus. My brother's contract and bonus were less, probably because he's a punter. One offer I got was much lower, one was about the same for the salary, but less for the bonus. This was a 3-year deal.

My CB had 3 tackles and a PD in a win for the Warsaw Cheetahs, beating one of the top teams in the conference. Immediate impact!

Are you stuck to the team you signed to for the season? Or can you jump ship to a human owned team if they give you a contract?

Any interest in a 2+2 team. I'm thinking I can't resist the urge to buy one any longer. Plus we'd get to rename it so 2+2 Sup Bros or something?

Correction already caved, Canadian AA team (no dif in money for all the levels), Sudbury Dream. Any ideas for a name?

Cody

Still figuring everything out but I've got 3.5 mil to blow and a 6-1 record, so hopefully this season will go well.

As for the name, I'll wait and see, but I'm sure we'll come up with something clever.
