Formula 1 Season 2012

Attention folks, launch of the new McLaren Mercedes MP4-27 today at 11:00 GMT streamed live on the team's website.

http://www.mclaren.com/page/watch-th...-mp4-27-live-1

Lets hope the nose does not look so much like this

Although it is said that due to this years new regualations which demand for lowered noses we might see mostly ugly cars in 2012.

Btw happy new year and a happy and exciting 2012 season!

Edit: McLaren's website is down apparently, perhaps their Facebook page works better https://www.facebook.com/vodafonemcl...31660510251116

Re: Formula 1 Season 2012

Aside from Vettel's domination i quite enjoyed most of last seasons races.

No Turkey this year is a real shame though. Provided an entertaining race every year.

redbull shouldn't be as dominant this year with the rule changes, that said I don't want to bet against them either

Red Bull will probably find a new way of gaining an advantage that no one else thought of. Hopefully Ferrari will be strong this year and put up a challenge for the title.

Even if Red Bull lose their edge Vettel is still the best ldo and will win the title.

Agree. The natives couldn't afford to go which is a real shame.

Valencia's the most boring GP i think i've ever seen, even with DRS there was sod all overtaking last season.

Not looking forward to the New York street race, expect that to mirror Valencia and be a bore.

Bahrain (probably with a few million $ pumped in) returns this season, another snoozefest.

Looking forward to Sky Sports dedicated channel coverage this year.
All races will be uninterrupted (thank god).

But that's in 2013!
I'm worried about the width of that "circuit" and overtaking opportunities, but I do like the elevation changes (the area around what should be "Sector 2" looks like it'll be fun to watch and/or drive in sims).

If the folks in Austin get the Circuit of The Americas finished, I'll be attending my first GP there in November. It's likely that we won't even have the USGP on over-the-air TV here (unlike the Indy races), since it's so late in the year that FOX will be showing the NFL instead.

What rule change? Looking at the Wikipedia article, seems like most of the rule changes are minor except this:

This concept was originally banned in incremental phases, with increasingly restrictive rules on what teams could and could not do, with a full ban to be applied from the 2011 British Grand Prix onwards. However, the incremental ban was controversial, with several teams applying for and receiving permission to circumvent the total ban. After discussion between the FIA and engine manufacturers, the original regulations were restored, with the full ban delayed until 2012. The regulations in 2012 will govern the design of the exhaust with the teams agreeing to strict constraints on the position of the exhaust tailpipe. This will result in the exhaust exiting the bodywork much higher up than in 2011, and no longer in the vicinity of the diffuser.[118] In October 2011, a clarification to the amended rules was issued, effectively banning "exotic" engine maps;[119] in November, further amendments were introduced, completely banning the practice of blowing exhaust gasses over parts of the car to improve downforce, following a bid by several teams to allow it under certain conditions.[120]
