The good old Sky sources saying West Ham will go after a top CF. Benteke being mentioned and they are saying they will be willing to pay up to £40m for someone.

We are after Benteke and we want a top striker too?

Yeah was thinking West Ham are a reasonable destination for Bony or Bentekke.

Both are basically damaged goods and come with a massive wage. They don't really fit our recent transfer strategy either.

I think the implication is that you wouldn't be paying much for either

Hoopie, i think you want Wissam Ben Yedder, you just don't know it yet.

Although for 40M you can go full BALR. with Boufal.

Yeah their wages combined with who they would realistically join mean only a handful of clubs are reasonable destinations. Looking at the PL table, maybe Newcastle or Sunderland if they stay up. Leicester maybe, if they want another option.

Most other clubs are either sorted, or not paying big enough.

It's wages though, especially Bony.

Indeed. I would probably prefer Sakho being fit to either.

I like the sound of a Boufal. It conjures up images of flair, along with volatility and tantrums.

In a vacuum benteke/bony would be decent options, but for what they are cost probably not worth it. Fire a couple shots at ligue 1 or eredevise players perhaps. Though the window for peak payet is prob ~2 years so you'll want to capitalize on that.

Yeah obv, but Citeh are certainly known for subsidising a dead horse's wages just to recoup something.

I failed to hammer the fact that Ben Arfa is having his best season ever, i'd fistpump if we were to sign him.

Benteke/Bony are good for mid-table teams but useless for teams who want to play with the ball on the ground. West Ham have been moving away from hoofball lately so it seems dumb to buy another Andy Carroll at this moment

Whoever told us to go buy Payet, Lanzini, Obiang, Ogbonna and Sakho knows what he's doing (I'll forgive Valencia).

Let that man work his magic outside England again!

Do not want Benteke. Any striker within England that I do want obviously we're never going to get - Kane, Sturridge, Lukaku.

Tenuous links to Michy Batshuayi

Benteke and Bony don't run enough. I mean yeah in a vacuum I guess I'll take them because they're great relegation insurance (and WH stills needs to have relegation insurance going into every season).

I just think we've seen the way forward with Bilic and it's having a striker who can press from the front and run onto through balls from all of our playmakers.

Yeah Spurs are supposed to be looking at him. I'd probably settle for Berahino and Dembele though.

I don't see how we are going to sign the guy from Marseille. There seems to be a dearth of strikers available and I would imagine that some of the better sides will be interested.

Lanzini should be completed by the end of the month and both Song and Moses will be let go at the end of their loan contracts, according to those that know these things.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it's done - Lanzini signs four year contract with West Ham, with an option for a further two years (I assume that's our option rather than his).

realistically speaking: new deals for Özil/Sanchez and a DLP...striker would be amazing but I think all the big clubs will throw huge piles of cash towards the likes of Aubameyang that we are going to be spectators once again

This isn't a troll, I honestly can't remember if it was him or not, but weren't you super cold on Lanzini a few months ago?

When he first turned up he looked to me just like Zarate mk II - and I didn't like Zarate mk I. He looked very, very lightweight and seemed to have little defensive discipline (and you have to be pretty good to get away with that). I think you also have to question the attitude of someone that at the age of 21 went to play in the Middle East when he had interest from elsewhere.

But then he scored the opener at plop when we went on to win 3-0, registering our first league win there in my lifetime, and I forgave everything and he was officially declared ACE. In all seriousness, he has surprised me - he has a knack of scoring goals and is an effective dribbler, and has a good, neat passing game (although isn't as incisive as you might want him to be).
