Well since my actual arguments are getting RANGZZZZZZ as a return, seems like it was a appropriate.

Any time someone resorts to RANGZ, period, end of story, you're probably doing something right in a sports discussion. Fundamental rule.

Federer was ungodly dominant at age 24. Players are really not all that different at 24 than they are at 26. At 26, Federer was already worse than a 22-year-old Nadal.

So what happened that Federer went from tennis god to debatable #1 in the world?

You either have to argue that he got a lot worse, or the competition got a lot better. The conversation will go nowhere until this question is answered to satisfaction.
After Fed turned 26 he won HALF of the next 8 slams; Finaled in 3; and SF in the other one.

Nadal's first 8 after 22: 3 W; 2SF; 1QF; 1 4R; and a no-show injury.

You still haven't even attempted to answer the clay question despite this being about the 6th time I asked. Geoff gave some sort of awful answer that's it.

Yet you are demanding answers to your satisfaction. LOL

Usually in a discussion like this, I hate the guy Im arguing against but this isn't the case here. I think Nadal is awesome, love watching him play. Just think he has a little bit to go before he can be declared the GOAT.

This is not true. See Borg and McEnroe. Both these guys never won a slam after 25

Many things. First of all, you can't dismiss playing with mono against top players as a trivial thing. Second, the competition did get better as it does every year. Third, he's not in his prime anymore. He was/is still pretty damn good. His peak lasted 4 years. This is a long time in tennis. Peaks don't last forever. Soon, you'll see a Nadal in decline as well. You'll see younger players beating him. It's natural part of sport. Why their peaks don't last is a pretty complex issue for which I have no answer at the moment.

Can't we all just come together and laugh at Murray for being a choker as well as tennis stars with girlfriends who aren't 10s?

Murray has a really ugly pus, so he's not doing too badly on the gf front.

I was just thinking yesterday. Who's uglier Murray or Rory McIlroy.

In 2008 (the year he was 26), he lost Wimbledon and the French Open to Nadal. He won the US Open in a tough field. Then in 2009 he lost the Australian to Nadal, won the French without having to play Nadal (obv Nadal's fault for losing to Sunderling). Nadal withdrew with an injury in Wimbledon in 2009.

There is no way you could say that Federer was better than Nadal at age 26 with a straight face. So either you're trolling, or are incapable of being objective. Either way I'm not wasting any more time with you.

LOL at bringing the RAAANGGGZZZZZ meme into tennis. Forgot, Federer's O-line gave him all day to hit his WRs to win the 2005 US Open. Sure he won Wimbledon in 2006, but could he have done it without his teammates hitting clutch shots for him? And who can forget the 2004 Australian Open when he was still a young pup, and was carried to the title by Derek Jeter's clutch hitting.

What is the clay question? I've rightfully ignored any post that started with, "well if you discount clay..."

Go ahead and pose your question and I will address it.

I'm also not surprised that you couldn't address the question I posted.

Also, haven't seen this mentioned yet but Nadal won the Gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. I'd say that's a pretty major accomplishment that gets lost when just sorting by GS rangz. Federer didn't medal.

Spoiler:
He lost to James Blake

Has anyone in the thread mentioned Nadal's alleged chemical assistance? I thought he was accused of steroid use a couple of years ago. Anyway, steroid arguments in SE are always tremendous fun so I thought I would bring it up.

You are dismissing Federer's competition as being weak with regard to his grand slam achievements. Why are you not similarly dismissing Nadal's clay court competition with regard to his? Nadal has had absolutely no clay competition whatsoever. That's were 6 of his 10 slams have been won.

I am not answering yours because it's been answered and because you haven't answered this despite this being I would say the 7th post I have tried to get the pro-Nadal guys to answer.
