This is why you cannot be taken seriously in this discussion because you have no clue what you are even talking about.

Not because everyone else was terrible (like you seem to think) but because he was simply playing out of this world tennis.
So the fact that not a single player could give him trouble is supposed to somehow discredit the argument that his competition was a joke? What a bizarro day around here.

nadal had to beat peak fed in every french he won from 05-08

fed hasn't had to play anyone as good as himself since nadal peaked, and its not like he won any of those matches

Nadal was the #2 player for 3 of the 4 Federer peak years. Do you know this fact or just wilfully ignoring it and mentioning players like Blake?

I wonder how many slams Borg would've won if he ever bothered playing at the Aussie....

I probably watched about 10-20x more tennis back then then I did today because I used to play. I'm beginning to think you have no clue what you're talking about if you think Hewitt was better than Del Potro.

I've never denied Federer was absurdly dominant. I'm maintaining that it was a hilariously bad era of tennis and I'm supported by the fact that he stopped dominating like that as soon as today's better players showed up.

Well he has managed to beat Nadal twice in slam semis.

Joke must be on Nadal.

Federer was on a 41 match winning streak on grass! He won 5 straight US opens. 3 Aus opens in 4 years.
Wait wait wait. The competition is significantly harder now. Djoko, Murray, Soderling, Ferrer. They are all better than Fed's competition from 2005-2007

Bitchface,

#2 player during Federer's prime wasn't Hewitt or Roddick or Blake like you want to think. It was Nadal.

Hewitt back in 01/02 was the best player in the world. Del Potro had an amazing 2009 which culminated in him winning the US Open.

Del Potro being "way better" is a pretty lol statement that you seem to agree with.

Nadal is actually one of my favorite athletes. He's a beast. Definitely an all time great and has the potential to be the GOAT. Yes, he was pretty damn good back then. He was a prodigy like Borg. All I'm arguing is that objectively speaking, Federer is still the GOAT.

Listen, here's the thing...

I'm gonna try to make this as easy to understand as possible so that anyone who actually wants to open their mind and discuss something can understand it.

Federer was ungodly dominant at age 24. Players are really not all that different at 24 than they are at 26. At 26, Federer was already worse than a 22-year-old Nadal.

So what happened that Federer went from tennis god to debatable #1 in the world?

You either have to argue that he got a lot worse, or the competition got a lot better. The conversation will go nowhere until this question is answered to satisfaction.

That's the whole argument for Jordan as GOAT?
