Another month and in this one we get the winter olympics!!

I'm a much bigger summer olympics fan than winter, the overall sports interest me more. But I'm down for watching meaningless sports. I hope to find something as awesome as the ping pong in the summer.

ITT we talk about low content. So what Olympic sport are you most interested in?

Also Mike Francessa is hilarious. God I'm glad I'm smarter than 99% of the people that call into that show.

You know, the system requires you to submit the thread then create the poll. Of course I would have a poll. Patience is a virtue.

I'm one of the, I imagine, tiny minority (especially here) who prefers the winter Olympics to summer. I'm really pumped.

I have too much ADD for patience.

And the US is going to sweep the medals in every event, book it.

Maybe a MN thing? Hockey is my favorite Olympic team sport and I <3 any kind of downhill sport (skiing, snowboarding, bobsledding, etc.)

I do prefer summer over winter but its marginal and its just that the random **** in the summer makes me laugh. Women lifting? Ping Pong? The walking event? Hahahaha, I mean its classic.

I live for those random events during the olympics. I'm more interested in them than the swimming, track events, basketball, hockey, ect.

Curling I guess fits that bill. But the second thing I like is the somewhat girly things, gymnastics and figure skating I am always interested in. But Speed skating takes the cake for me in the winter. Though I'll watch the women's and the couple's figure skating. Especially Chaz Michael Michaels couple.

Bobsledding? Really? I left that out of the poll(I admit I forgot about it) but its not one I really think about for the olympics. Is that a big one? I'm serious.

There was that awesome cool runnings movie though, "you dead man?"

Bobsledding and luge are both good. You get a good sense of the speed and it's like whoa

Also, boxing is winter, right? That one's fun too.

This hockey tournament is going to be outstanding. Elite level hockey where everyone gives a ****. For a lot of (most?) Europeans, this is the top honour, so this will be as intense as the Stanley Cup playoffs. And with a high variance, single elimination knockout stage, anyone can win (Sweden/Finland final last time, Canada/USA in '02, Czech Republic/Russia in '98). USA have an exciting young team and a really good goalie, I think people should be pumped about this and rally around this team.

Anyone coming to Vancouver for the Olympics?

Skiing events of any kind are really my favorite, so it isn't like I would've voted for bobsledding. Snowboarding is next because its like skiing. I enjoy watching that class of events too though (bobsledding/luge)

Biathlon is pretty sweet too just because they are so ridic. good at shooting.

I always thought olympic bobsledding was a pretty big deal. I would guess that it drives the sport and I know fair amount of money is sunk into sled technology/design.

I like the skiing/snowboarding events and the bobsled/luge events. Speed skating is ok, The rest are kind of meh, but I usually end up watching way more winter olympics than summer.

Speed skating.

Been a fan ever since the highly anticipated 2002 event, when Apollo Ohno went all Apollo "Oh NO!" and that Australian luckboxed his way into gold cause everyone else fell down. Was funnier when I found out he had luckboxed in the preliminaries just to get to the finals in similar fashion. LOL DONKAMENTS.

He also only got through the quarter-finals due to a disqualification. Not a huge fan of that sport but def. one of my favorite Olympic stories:

After consulting the national coach Ann Zhang, Bradbury's strategy from the semi-final onwards was to cruise behind his opponents and hope that they crashed, as he realized that he was slower and could not match their raw pace.

Summer >> Winter for me. Hockey is the only thing I care even a little about in the winter games but during the summer games I watch ~all the track and field and swimming (at least the mens events) +football, basketball, weightlifting etc.

eta - though curling can be pretty riveting at times (no sarcasm)
