2-2 after 25 min and I dont think anyone could be surprised. All they need is Ganso as the defensive midfielder and this will be the most unbalanced in the world.

Yeah, I watched Sevilla game until the Olympic final (which I then started recording so I could go back to Sevilla game) and from the first 10 minutes, if not from pregame itself with the announced lineup, it was clear that this would be something special.

Sevilla could not have been more exciting with their attacking play in this game.

I failed to mention Pablo Sarabia in my previous Sevilla post because I had not considered him yet but he was someone who stuck out a nicely when I was going through La Liga stats comparing various players.

Even though he has a nice resume he isn't someone that I've watched a whole a lot (I blame Getafe) but he looks like yet another quality signing.

And really only Pareja as someone who is known as a centreback.

I think my guess ended up being that it was a 4-4-2 with Mariano bombing forward on the right at every chance and nobody having told Vitolo that he was the left back.

The good news for Sevilla is they have so many good attacking players even without Krohn-Dehli. Franco Vázquez looks brilliant, Vitolo is a great two-way player, Sarabia, Kiyotake, Correa who was supposedly really good midweek, Konoplyanka is still there even if a bit underwhelming. The bad news is they apparently want to play all of them at once.

Pretty clear it was outside the box, he just happened to fall inside

the contact starts outside, but he's clearly grabbing him all the way through, seems like a fine call to me

holding offenses are judged by where they end. he continued to hold him into the area.

some finish. i kinda hate atletico dropping points, but the alaves fans seemed to enjoy it.

Really? Has that always been the rule?

There's no definitive rule as to where a foul happened in these situations. It's up to the ref. Idk if that's global though.

they changed it last year I think, two years max, used to be called where the contact starts

think it's pretty much always been the case but could be wrong about that part

I also thought kick was awarded where a foul started, not sure by any means but that's how commentators always made it seem so don't think it always been like that

I think commentators mentioned the ref-can-decide-where-thing this year, which I personally don't mind. Maybe they were mistaken. Ultimately, the refs will be subjective on where to place the foul anyway.
