Gomez was not too bad during the Euros until he got injured. But when you take the last few seasons, he was really terrible in Italy and scored goals in lol Turkey. Can't really take that as "generally very good" imho.

He's got 526 caps for club and country, not including the few games of this season so far. He scored 292 times. There's another 21 goals across the German youth teams and Team 2006 in 56 games.
Bottom line I'll always stand by it that he's a very good forward. He's not a good footballer though

Gomez tends to have the technical abilities of a brick wall. As far as our match in Leipzig is concerned, I fear the worst and hope for the best. Both prefer pressing and counter attacks, but I don't trust our defense just yet.

Gomez looked really good technically while still at Stuttgart. Not your stereotypical lumbering oaf at all. Not sure where that went but he's still better technically than a guy like Kießling
