Yeah, I think the one he shipped was quite a small field tbf.. now it's a 6-seated FT of 326 starters

This will be the u21 Euro thread? Ok.

England the biggest disappointment so far. With the squad they have, and having watched them some previously, I was actually pretty convinced that they would be good this time around but now I'm not so sure unless their coach really steps up and the Sweden game mostly indicated the exact opposite.

The setup, especially the midfield, and gameplan + complete lack of any hint of changes made was beyond comical and worse than even the Stuart Pearce teams that showed up.

Sweden's chances to win the game kept increasing and if not for a missed penalty they would have.

Maybe it was trying to match up with Sweden by tactically copying them, which is a big misunderstanding anyway and maybe it's Loftus-Cheek out that has disrupted everything, but they really need to make changes.

I think John Swift should play personally.

Portugal were also pretty good but can improve. I like Rui Jorge more and more as a coach though.

Squad not as good as the last time where they were the best team with several later European Championship winners playing key roles + Silva dominating, but still a capable team.

Will be interesting to see Neves play the Portugal 6 role and what that might say about his future.

Bruno Fernandes isn't elite like Silva but still one of the better unknown players.

Serbia is featuring some of the 2015 U20 World Cup winners so that was extremely interesting to watch, where they were at, but for all their physical strength they were almost as disappointing as England I'd say.

Zivkovic who was one of the hottest U20 players in the world looks far away from being an impact player on "senior" level and it makes sense that he hasn't really been ready for Benfica yet.

Hopefully there is an excuse that he was playing on the with somewhat hopeless conditions to succeed.

Maksimovic who is the best midfielder was used completely wrong in too many deep situations and Grujic was too clumsy even if he has some tools and looks more physical strong than ever. Milinkovic-Savic is missed.

The centrebacks not good enough on the ball here.

I always really like this tournament so I'm looking forward to the rest.

Ronaldo's camp has filtered to the media that he wants to leave, and Florentino has filtered to the media that he's fed up with that sort blackmail, and Ronaldo can go play in Manchester for all he cares. Everyone knows that the threat to leave is an effort to get the club to pay his back taxes and fines, and they've already effectively communicated that he can go to hell.

There's nothing supposed about any of this. Half of the team and half of Barca has already plead out on similar cases involving similar set-ups. They took they're time with Ronaldo because he's the big one. Barca was sloppier, Rosell will really do time, because the club was in on the crap. Madrid is more professional, they worry more about the Madrid brand than the Ronaldo brand.

Florentino and co. have to worry about themselves. Big well connected guys who bought all sorts of access, guys like Villar Mir, are looking down the barrell of a gun right down because of their tie-ins to all sorts of higher level corruption. Florentino, who isn't immune to any of that, just more skilled, is far more worried about the well being of ACS, about rebuilding the Bernabeu, about building north of Chamartin, about all sorts of other stuff worth a lot more to him than Ronaldo. He's probably also tired of babying the guy, and in any case can't afford to appear soft on corruption/tax issues in the current climate.

Not going to prison? Former vice president Rodrigo Rato is headed to prison. The King's son-in-law is headed to prison. The former president of Madrid (the government) is IN prison. And there's more gonna join them. Sure, none of them will do as much time as they ought, some of them will wiggle out, but this dude is just a football player ...
Blah blah blah

The public don't give a flying fook about any of them, I doubt anyone outside of Spain knows about that. Everyone (within reason) basically knows about the Ronald's situation.

He will get the exact same as Messi and Neymar.

Zivkovic has been very good for us, love the kid, he still has a lot to work on but played a decent role on the team.
Our u21 team is really stacked though, anything that isn't a win will surely be a disappointment

Can we start a thread specifically for VAR? Isn't video review going to kill scoring more in soccer? Seems like 95%+ of the time any review would only benefit defense

The draw for rounds 1 and 2 of new Champions League and Europa League is tomorrow. However, can't tell anything interesting about it, cause it isn't. Celtic and Salzburg and Galatasaray (EL) are involved on the seeded side, but the unseeded teams are universally crap. And so are most of the seeded ones, tbf.

New season threads would be welcome though. Someone please get on it.

Nor interesting to who? I'm sure the +1m spectators at Celtic this season disagree.

These draws are our biggest games of season ffs.

Wouldn't mind a trip to Dundalk.

Should be good! Will watch it later.

Glad to see Ceballos starting. I think his passing could be needed this game. Macedonia actually pressed Spain well and got tons of shots. I think it was 24-11 in their favor yet they lost 0-5...

Portugal have tactics and material, especially they way they attack (and possible press) through their very mobile wing-forwards, to frustrate Spain, who should still be too good individually though.

There are still a number of players on their bench that I'm almost depressed about not seeing here.

Amazing squad.
