I was thinking. and I want to know if im dead wrong on this or if im correct on this statement.
You need Creativity in the Midfield. and by creativity I mean someone that can make plays. I honestly feel one of your IM should be a straight up playmaker. Prilo is a straight up playmaker. Messi, Forlan and almost half of SPN team are playmakers.
I do not see a single playmaker on England. I don;t see any creativity in Englands Midfield. absolutely none. and honestly, I can't remember the last time England actually had a creative MF and had a playmaker on their roster. I thin it has costed them the past 8 or so years. WC 98 was prolly their best team in the past 15 years imo. They were as good as Brazil and Fance imo. Not having a playmaker has been detrimental to England

Depends how wide your definition of playmaker is I suppose. Without checking the stats I would guess that Beckham and Gerrard have provided most assists since '98, they might not be considered traditional playmakers but they have been filling that role. Scholes too although he was under-utilised. I don't think this has been the main cause of England's failings in that period either, it's more down to failure to perform on the day, bad tactics and team selection, plus the odd bit of bad luck.
I'm interested to see how Pirlo does, obv he's quality and I understand he's having somewhat of a resurgence (don't watch much Serie A) but I think he can be got at if closed down quickly in possession.
