Let me ask you this, if he was doing such a great job then why did the players damn near throw a party when the trade went through? These are the guys on the court every day, knowing what Avery as well as the team expects to get the job done--not what a PER stat says.

That 06 team was actually different than the team that started this year btw. And you can't base current situations on what happened two years ago.

You say they have plenty of experience winning big playoff series'. Ok, this is all relative. Way back when Nash and Dirk were just toddlers in this league they came back from an 0-2 deficit to beat the Jazz giving Dallas their first playoff when in what seemed like forever (sorry bobbo)--that was a big playoff series at the time b/c it was the start of all this. When they beat the Kings to get to the WCF was big. All this doesn't/didn't mean much b/c all it really did was change their focus from being competitive to championship or bust. They don't care that they beat SA in SA in a game 7 and all the adversity that went into that series, or that they beat Pho the very next round and went to the finals--all they care about is how they melted in the finals and against GS. What they care about is that the realization that their current (pre-trade) situation wasn't going to get them over the top. Not that Kidd is a sure thing, but their organization isn't content w/ being just real good and taking a crack at being great is the gamble they are willing to take.
ding ding ding
