You do not think there is a risk of having someone film you naked through a keyhole, or stalk you outside your house. Sorry, I just don't agree. Being stalked/spied on/etc is not a rational expectation of any job really.
Well put.

Reading through the thread, it's almost as if some people think that anyone on television can be subject to any behavior from anyone, and shouldn't be upset by it because they're famous.

I haven't seen anyone say someone shouldn't be upset by intrusive behavior towards them.

quick - Exactly. Obviously stalkers exist. David Letterman had his creepy stalker for quite awhile. As I recall she ended up doing jail-time (don't remember the whole thing). Sure, it happens. And an attractive female television personality like Andrews is certainly going to be susceptible to that. But that still doesn't make it appropriate and certainly doesn't mean they deserve it.

If you're famous and you go out clubbing and behaving super-crazy and get all Lindsay Lohan or something then certainly you know that your fame leads to the possibility of your behavior not staying quiet (see the thread and website of the pics of drunk athletes). That would also be the same with Erin Andrews as well as non-babes in the sportscasting scene. But her behavior was fine. She was in her own room = She did not deserve this nor could she have ever expected this.

People are implying it's a price you pay for being famous. No, it isn't. Most famous people..even the attractive famous people...are subject to anything like this.

It obviously is more likely to happen to famous people though. And when you choose to become famous, you are also choosing to expose yourself, indirectly as it may be, to more people who seek to take advantage of you. Male celebrities get robbed, framed, and embezzled from. Is this fair? Of course not. But you'd have to be naive not to be aware of it.

one hopes that this doesn't happen. I gladly watched the videos, but at the same time, she doesn't deserve, nor has she courted papparazzi or anything like that

there's a difference between signing up for the military during war time and wanting to be in sports media. Obviously she's an insanely attractive woman, but her dad was in broadcast media and it was something that she was obviously interested in. But, while she may be in the public eye due to what she does, she hasn't gone out of her way to be a celeb and has focused on being a sports reporter.

I wonder what % of US adult males have seen this clip at this point? Has to be correlated with age, and prolly below 40% imo.

I would be shocked if this ended her TV career - I mean it was a grainy video of her naked, not an explicit sex tape in HD. Other celebs have had similar things happen, and carried on with their career.

I don't think anyone has come to the conclusion that it's going to end her career. If anything, I would imagine the opposite to be the case.

I'd put the number somewhere in the 5% range, max. More likely around 1-2%. Among people who actually know who she is and would want to watch it, maybe in the 7-10% range. It wasn't up long enough, now it requires some internet skill to find. I think there is a tendency to wildly overestimate the number of people who share the same interests we do. I would wager the vast majority of adult males have no idea who Erin Andrews is even if you showed them a video clip of her in (fully clothed) action.

Of course the troublemakers within that 1-2% are fully capable of causing her plenty of mayhem.

It's been a few hundred posts or whatever but the admins said they will delete or at least lock this thread if people make requests like this or a link is posted (I don't have one, don't ask me). So please don't. Thanks.

I am less concerned with ESPN giving her the boot and would be thinking more along the lines of a person saying, "F it. This isn't worth it. I'm outta here."

When you are 'violated' (as it were) like this I just have to think it's the type of thing that has to cross your mind and you're just left thinking, "is this really worth it?" Then things settle down a little bit and you cool off and also probably get support from colleagues who I assume have been contacting her.

I am hoping and assuming Erin is strong enough that this deal wouldn't push her away. I can envision a situation where something like this would be enough to push some people out of the industry though.

She KNOWS that there are going to people in the stands who are going to rub it in and get on her case about it. Now it's more than just stupid fans shouting, "Errrrinnnnn...You're beautiful....Will you marry me?!!?!?" or something that she can brush off as silly and mostly innocent when she hears it from the stands. Now it's going to be, "Wooo---hooo!! Take it off Erin!! I jerk it to your video every day!!! HAHAHA!!!" (turns and laughs with all his buddies about how hilarious he is).

Fans can be freaking vicious. Especially college kids and drunks (and I guess pervs with teeny cameras too)

Really? I would take the over on 5%. I think her story has broken into mainstream news pretty much - I think I saw it on Yahoo news before I saw this thread.

It looks like if Google search trends could be cumulative over the 10 days after her story broke that she would easily be #1. Here's one day:

7/21/09
1. erin andrews peephole pictures
2. brown university
3. f 35 joint strike fighter
4. craig gass
5. native american indian dog
6. tour de france stage 16 results
7. emphyteutic lease
8. cheryl hines
9. apple earnings
10. hell s kitchen fight
11. pecksniffian
12. chocolate hills philippines
13. jens voigt crash
14. andrea mcnulty
15. joyce hyser
16. erin andrews video link
17. erin andrews hotel video
18. erin andrews peephole video link rapidshare
19. ben roethlisberger assault
20. friends of jaclyn

But yeah, my original point was a large % overall has not seen it, but not that large.

Hmm, thought I had posted on that list already but I guess it got erased somehow.

I'm looking at the other non-Erin Andrews topics on that top 20 thing there and I am not familiar with most of them. I haven't been watching the news a whole lot or reading news sites very much lately so I admit I'm not exactly the most 'in tune' guy with today's happenings. But do most people really know what/who all those other things are too? I have to think most people are as out to lunch on most of those topics as my sister or Mom would be on Erin Andrews.

So I got curious:
Looked up Craig Gass. Okay...he's some comedian/impersonator I don't think I've ever heard of.

I think some air force guy I play rec-soccer with was talking about that F-35 thing a couple weeks ago but I'm not really sure because I don't care.

And why the f are people looking up Brown University or native american indian dogs? Were they in the news or something for some reason?

And I didn't try very hard on pecksniffian but I can't figure out why people would be googling that word either.

Friends of Jaclyn I didn't think I recognized immediately either. But then I saw what that was and remembered the Real Sports episode on HBO I had seen about her and that foundation a couple weeks ago.
