Depends which one.

However Americans make jerk tourists who make sweeping generalisations about countries they barely know is an absolute stereotype of Yanks, and LFC is conforming to it perfectly.

Gotta agree with you there.

I can see why people like Belgian beer, and obviously its well crafted, but most of the stuff I have drunk I have found much too sweet and flowery.

Not saying that is the start and end all of Belgian beer, but I think it wins a lot of fans by having a good solid well crafted traditional product which at the same time does not require much of a developed palate or sophistication to enjoy, at least when we are talking about some of its more well known examples.

If I was weening someone off the commercial Larger, I would point them straight in the direction of Belgium because it offers the least challenge to their blunted taste buds.

Good points of Belgium: The Cannibal-Brel-Bruges-Soulwax-[some-Netherlandish-painters-before-the-dead-hand-of-the-Hapsburgs-prevailed]-(Magritte?). That's it.

i spent a couple weeks in belgium once and it was ****ing incredible. The beer/mussels/fries are beyond elite.

I took (from Brussels) day trips to luxembourg, the hague, and brugge. Would recommend all 3. Luxembourg is boring but who doesn't want to say they've been to one of those random tiny countries

Also movie "In Bruges" and (some) footballers.

I wouldn't want to go there just for the beer but that would definitely be a nice perk. Just seems like it would be a great time but could be a figment of my imagination.

I lived in Belgium for a bit. It's fine if you like that kind of thing. (And I exaggerated and there are some other sights to see and Seige Tower-Lukaku-De Bryune-Hazard .. but they aren't actually there - so not really a feature of the country as can-be-visited ..). But, quite apart from the smokes and red light stuff, Holland >>>>> Belgium.

But if you are passing through for, eg, 24hrs, then the Merckx and Brel museums are compulsory.

Yeah, yeah, too right. Apols, Belgium. I should have said this. Good moules-frites is fantastic and not hard to find.

For something similar, but a l'il bit more elaborate, if you are in Brussels go to Noordzee in the Sainte-Catherine district for great cooked fish/fish soup/seafood in the street

LOL OAFK

Belgium, unlike the UK, it is almost impossible to find a place that does not serve very good to elite beer

Lol who?

But your swallowing the hook does point to the actual weakness in the Beer scene in the UK, way too many **** pubs that either don't serve good beer or have good beers on tap but dont look after them.

The beers themselves exist in legion though, and you only have to stay a place a while or check a website to know were to go to get them served properly.

....or just keep the Payet shirt, wait a couple of weeks and get one for £25 (probably less) as they shift all the old stock out.

How long have you spent in each country again?

It sounds like Belgium has great beer.

British IPAs are an entirely different genre from American IPAs. But yeah, I don't really like them.
Yep, Auckland. Lived in the States for a while though. I would guess queenstown would be the place to be most different given tourist town. I'll have to do more research...

I've been homebrewing for about a year. Does that count as craft beer? I make a pretty decent pale ale, and saison is good too*.
