Has there ever been a season the Top 6 are so much better than 7-20?

How does Vert find a way to get booked there with the amnesty kicking in in 2.5 minutes.

He's got plans on Saturday? Kevin Nolan would get sent off just before Christmas every year, you can't deny that the bloke doesn't shy away from his responsibilities as a family man.

Ref got the pen/red spot on. New rule is about addressing the issue of overly harsh punishment for "honest" fouls. It's conceivable that the tangle of legs was accidental but far likelier that Redmond manufactured it. This one was as black/white as is possible when judging intent.

I like the rule and think it's important to make this exception, else you incentivise defenders to scythe down attackers who look certain to score.

Yes. And I purposely singled out the 4 seasons out of the last 7 in which Liverpool failed to make the top 6.

If the point had been made about the top 4 being obviously superior, I would have been able to highlight the fact that the top 4 did not include Liverpool in 6 of the last 7 seasons!

BANTER.

The Liverpool and Chelsea supporters seem to forget they finished 8th and 10th last season..

Every Monday, Betfair drop £2 into my account as an "arcade bonus" and when I remember, I spend the 30 seconds to load up an eligible game and take a £2 spin. I probably remember every other week. This week I remembered and won £95 and I don't even have to play it through or anything!

My usual MO is to lay heavy favourites in the PL so it makes it sweeter when underdogs get a result. I'm going to ratchet that up because it's more fun to see this windfall as bonus money distinct from the real cash which I usually have to work to earn. Basically, I'm quids in if the next round of games springs some surprises. C'mon the lols!

chef, I'll be attending Everton vs Southampton next Tuesday. It'll be my first and possibly last home game of the season, as a friend has two hospitality seats. Everton will most likely be around the 11/8 - 6/4 mark. Use that information as you see fit.

LO,

Doesn't quite fit my formula but you attending counts in my favour if I bet against Everton, right? And then a little extra on 0-0, cos nobody likes to attend a 0-0.

You've probably covered before (and I've probably read but forgot) but why don't you get to more games? For my part, I have been attending one or two matches a season at most for the past decade, as I wasn't living in Yorkshire and I haven't been rich enough and we've been too **** to justify a special effort. I moved back to Yorkshire for the second half of the season and went to 5 matches I think. This season I expect to get to a dozen or so games, even though I resent stumping up £30+ for most fixtures. I find I'm excited like I was as a youngster going to the matches, in contrast to how I viewed it the last time I attended semi-regularly, where I felt like I was dragging myself to games and wondering why I bothered. Dunno how much the contrast has to do with the quality going up versus it becoming a novelty again after such a long hiatus.

There are lots more reasons not to go versus reasons to go IMO, just wondered what combination makes attending so rare for you?

Didn't watch the game but guessing Southampton actually tried to get out of their own half which immediately made them more vulnerable to Spurs than when they played us.

I didn't watch the Southampton vs Liverpool game but guessing plop didn't win which immediately makes you incredibly salty.

Yeah it's really unfair your opponent didn't play the way you wanted them to so you could beat them. Didn't realise Mourinho actually posted here and was a plop fan

I only ever had a full season ticket as a kid, but I shared one with my brother for the past 8 years as it was an efficient way of getting to as many matches as we could each fit into our work / family schedules.

We both agreed towards the end of last season that we wouldn't be renewing this time as the experience was simply no longer enjoyable. Being surrounded by miserable, aggressive idiots who insult and berate the players they claim to support just ground us down in the end. I've no idea why Ross Barkley in particular hasn't handed in a transfer request yet, as he gets murdered by the majority of the home fans every time he fails to beat 3 men and score a wonder goal. It's no coincidence that Everton had such rotten home form last season!

So yeah, I gave up being a loyal Everton fan because I don't like being surrounded by Everton fans.

I'm sure you are all keen to hear what David Sullivan has to say ahead of the New Year and, more importantly, the transfer window. Yes you are.

Joint-Chairman pledges to unite support

- Joint-Chairman David Sullivan makes New Year's resolution to unite supporters in 2017
- Board pledge to work hard to further strengthen relationship with fans
- Regular meetings and fan-led initiatives are planned to resolve outstanding issues

West Ham United Joint-Chairman David Sullivan says his New Year's resolution is to further unite West Ham's Board of Directors and the Club's supporters.

As 2016, a year which has seen unprecedented change for Hammers fans, draws to a close, Mr Sullivan has pledged that he and the Board will help strengthen the relationship between the two in 2017.

"I am aware that since the beginning of the season a small number of supporters have struggled to adapt to some of the changes we have faced this year as West Ham supporters,” Sullivan told whufc.com.

“At the Club, we have been working hard to help supporters with this process and we have definitely made good progress over recent months, but it is my New Year's resolution to unite us completely moving forward.

"With that in mind we plan to continue meetings with supporter groups, bloggers, fan sites and supporters who engage with the Club on social media, to find out what the problems are and to do our utmost to try and resolve as many of them as possible.

"This will act as a means of discussing the future of the Club and an opportunity to illustrate to supporters the challenges that we face as a Board to make certain changes.

"We are determined to work with supporters on areas they want to see improved."

It is my New Year's resolution to unite us completely moving forward
Joint-Chairman David Sullivan
The Club has been reaching out to various supporter groups over the last few months and have a number of supporter-led initiatives planned for the New Year.

And with results beginning to improve on the pitch, the Joint-Chairman and the Board are looking to build on the growing positive feeling at the Club.

"I believe we are on the cusp of seeing a lot of hard work come to fruition on and off the pitch,” he continued.

"Whilst we know we are certainly not back to our best yet, we are picking up points and seeing the signs of the rapid improvement we need to climb the table properly.

"Contrary to what some might think, our supporters have more access to their Board than at any other Premier League club, and I am determined to use these channels to unite all of us.

"I know we have a long way to go still, but I can assure you I am completely committed to the task and will personally ensure that this is the focus of our Board in 2017.”
Having had no interest in any sort of discussion prior to the stadium move, suddenly the **** is all ears. Also, I know we're thin at right back, but signing Glen Johnson isn't going to unite the club in the way he wants. The only thing it'll do is make everyone realise that the club won't be making any progress whilst he remains Director of Football in all but name.
