What's the harm?
If something needs to go, it's the overuse of the minutes silence/applause. It's not as bad this season but last season there was one at pretty much every game.

You've changed your tune.

It's militaristic propaganda at its worst.

Doubt anyone would have issue if it was worn 1 day per year in remembrance of ww2 rather than for 4 ****ing weeks and used to promote more recent wars and there wasn't the feeling of compulsion to wear the stupid thing.

McClean must have some Irish thing going on so he doesn't like England/Great Britain. Snubbed the flag a year ago. I prolly have some of the details wrong, but whatever.

McClean isn't the issue.

Wtf you waffling about snubbed. That's the compulsion crap I already mentioned.

Christ's sake how some of you are so left-wing in this thread.

Football is a magical thing how you can just talk about football and it's great and no-one loses composure even though politically everyone's so different. So I'm again done talking about politics and I wish good for everyone.

Stop politarding the hoofball thread.

Terrible luck, looked real hungry when he came on against spurs and would def have been a useful asset this season. Fortunately for the first time in a long while we have a lot of good options in the forward positions

That's his third serious knee injury in 5 years.

this poppy thing feels horribly oppressing. spending a month forging militaristic national unity and punishing heretics doesnt exactly seem healthy.
11-02-2016 , 09:06 AM
ya it has nothing to do with forging militaristic national unity for 99.99% of people
11-02-2016 , 09:12 AM
then why are they so obsessed with going after anyone that isnt joining in?

may is outraged that fifa isnt changing their rules for them now.

Pretty sure that the extending the poppy season and the wars its relevant to and also other imagery about our boys over there etc are a concerted effort to get some warm belly feels into stomachs to gloss over the fact that every violent conflict we have been in for the last 20 years has been a completely pointless cluster****.

Think its been pretty successful.

Inital idea of post WW1 Remembrance Days was that they would serve as reminders of just how ****ing stupid war is and how we must strive to avoid it at all costs. It has been bastardised somewhat since then but the general idea is still quite admirable.

Also, nobody is forced to wear a poppy for God's sake. It sometimes feels as if the anti-poppy brigade are trying to force outrage where none exists.

I mean this 'feeling of compulsion' just doesn't exist.

bc its seen as disrespectful to the dead

if someone stands up during a minutes silence and starts shouting BOLLOCKS TO THIS, IM NOT BEING SILENT I ****IN HATED THE BLOKE AND EVERYTHING HE STOOD FOR, HE WAS A RIGHT **** then he's getting stick for it. regardless of whether he has a point
11-02-2016 , 09:21 AM
Anyone in public life pretty much has to wear one, and the whole point is that we have moved massively away from the whole remember how dumb WW1 was and much more to a kind of Yankian fist pumping of our military forces.
