There are lots of reasons not to.

Value in what sense? Monetary? The league is rolling in it. If we are taking clubs for money then one from China or America will do.

nothing worse than a bunch of scottaids itt during an international break

So they let them in and soon after Scotland votes for independence, then what?

We all piss ourselves after reading the latest GERS report?

small lower league clubs could do with a few thousand pissed up hairy jocks turning up and buying all their e-coli stadium burgers twice a year i think

also i expect they could sell one or possibly even two years worth of conference tv rights north of the border for a hell of a lot of money relatively speaking

Not just monetary. There are two genuinely huge British clubs in Scotland and I like the idea of the best British clubs competing against each other. There usually seems to be quite good atmosphere at each stadium and I'd rather travel to Glasgow than to Middlesbrough.

I don't see anyone asking for a British league - if you want one then make a case for it. Instead of Middlesborough then you can have Aberdeen or whatever.

Big clubs competing against each other generally produces excitement - the next time one of the OF does anything in Europe I suggest buying a ticket or watching on TV.

hoopie if you had your way would you send cardiff and swansea to the welsh league

But the point is that they are wasting away in a nothing league when they could be adding to an already vibrant league.

I'm pretty indifferent to be honest. The Welsh clubs (and it is more than two) that play in England didn't have a league to play in when they joined ours. The Sweaties have a league already.

Is it a British league that you want or not? If so, do we get to boot out any incumbent sides that aren't adding sufficient vibrancy? If we're just taking any old club that was once good but has fallen on hard times we could have Steaua Bucharest and Videoton too. Perhaps we could automatically promote Aston Villa again as well.

dumb soccer watching american here, but would the clubs have to vote on scottish teams joining the pyramid? With their resources and stadiums the OF teams would eventually make it to top which means two less spots for everyone else to fight for. seems a bad deal the change the status quo.

Videoton rings a bell for some reason ... did they not play United a few years back ?

maybe, but none of them seem particularly big, so "it'll be fun. just do it" is enough to win easily.

the idea that if you are ok with adding a club from scotland then logic dictates that you should be ok with adding a club from romania or videoquestland is not reasonable imo. there's an obvious difference

Please let me know what the criteria is for adding a club and we can go from there. Obviously it is fine for you to gloss over the horrendous logic fail you made earlier though.

It's pretty absurd to say something like 'rofl, you think we must promote villa', we're just talking about allowing them to join the pyramid, not putting them in our top league for all eternity.

And no, I'm not particularly fussed about hard and fast rules like 'it has to be a British league'. It's a British league de facto anyway.

rangers and celtic winning the spl every year for the next 300 years = dumb imo when there's an obvious and workable alternative

celtic and rangers whooping shrewsbury and co for 3 years on the way to the championship = 1/100th as dumb imo

You(and other cheeks fans I know) bang on about this from time to time but I've been going to dons games for 25 years or so and have yet to see any element of religious bigotry amongst our fan base. Any examples or is this usual cheeks tactics of 'you guys once did something bad ergo our despicable behaviour is justified?'

Where as saying "these poor chaps have fallen on hard times, please, for the sake of vibrancy, let them nestle under our wing" is in no way absurd.

It has no Scottish clubs in it, so it isn't a British league.

If we are taking new clubs or expanding the league, please set out the criteria for what exactly the clubs or regions/nations are. Answers such as "ones that AIDS thinks are good" will be treated with the contempt they deserve.

will you first acknowledge that adding a team from scotland is a very different proposition for many different reasons than adding a team from romania
