I don't know. Had great links to Copenhagen Business School and the Royal Theatre for instance.

But yeah, it's not exactly the tube. Are they still building and expanding the whole thing?

In honor of the international break and trying to get away from train discussions. I'm going to Dublin then Belfast to watch Northern Ireland v Norway (basically just an excuse to travel and drink). Any suggestions for worthwhile things to do in either City?

Expect trip report on either country's train system, naturally...

We are actually taking the train from Dublin to Belfast so will obv report back

I honestly can't remember there being a metro in Glasgow despite living there for 6 months, but the scottish/english trains up there were pretty bad, almost bad as the norwegian system

Not that I have used it extensively (mostly just going from Bahnhofstrasse to the airport), but the Swiss train system seems to be spectacularly well run. Some nice IC trains as well.

Schweinsteiger to MLS this week, as good as confirmed.

Shouldn't they have a summer chasing Lukaku before settling for Wayne? If they're chasing Wayne this early who knows who they will settle for.

Even Payet wanted to **** off West Ham to go to lolmarseille, the idea of lukaku wanting to go to west ham is silly

The idea of Lukaku wanting to go to West Ham was never mentioned though.

Glenn Murray or his South American equivalent.

This. My original post was about the tube when I said "trains" but the tube is outstanding. Simple. Maps everywhere. Very easy to figure out where you're going. You know when the next one is coming etc. Smelly and crowded like an NYC subway but that's not the trains fault.

But even beyond that Euro trains are great. In most cases you can an actual seat. Have a food cart which also sells alcohol. Can bring your own food and alcohol and enjoy a nice peaceful ride. Usually beautiful scenery out the window. Sleeper cars for the long overnight trips. So elite. I miss the trains in Europe so much.

I lived in Sweden for a summer and being able to hop on a train in my middle of nowhere town and go to any Scandanavian city was so elite. Copenhagen was 3 hours away, Gothenburg and Malmo 2.5, Stockholm 5, Uppsala not much more than that. You can't do that here without driving. Of course driving here is elite and gas cheap so why would you, but as a stranger in a strange land the trains are elite.

Worst train experience of my life, and it wasn't even that bad, was paying like the $10 more for a "private" sleeper car overnight train from Belgrade to Bucharest. The train went like 5 MPH the whole way. Had another guy in my "private" car who was pretty creepy like directly next to me. The train looked like it was from a century ago, and machine-gun armed police in army fatigues came on and interrogated the **** out of me in the middle of the night what seemed like every 20 minutes. Still a memorable experience

European trains GOAT. Especially when I was a 21 year old student with a Eurail pass and could hop on and off whenever I wanted and go wherever I wanted for one flat fee.

Lived in both so can give you a few ideas. Game of thrones tour is in N.I so if you follow the show and gaf can see a good few of the locations used. Don't get on the giant tour bus operators if you wanna see the trouble sights, there's black taxi drivers who do those tours and while I've never done one myself had a lot of people say they were excellent. Laverys is a decent spot to watch football /drink in beer garden/play pool etc. For a night out somewhere in cathedral quarter is your best bet for a decent and safe bar.

Restaurants in Belfast go to Home/Ginger/Mourne Seafood.

Dublin for football/sports go to the Living Room, it's a big sports bar right in City centre. Who are you travelling with and how long in each city?
03-21-2017 , 12:09 PM
All of the above suggestions are solid imo. If you're interested in learning about the history of Belfast definitely do a black taxi tour.

Good thing no Irish politics stuff happened today that could derail thread!

Get any number 10 or 1 bus from Belfast city centre for 15/20 mins then get off and walk, you'll see plenty of troubles sites.

Duke of York, John Hewitt, Harp bar, the spaniard or anywhere else around the cathedral quarter for drinking and eating.

Segway tour around the dock/titanic quarter looks great craic.

I remember being amazed when I saw Harp lager on sale in a pub in Belfast. Then I saw Hoffmeister available in my local Tesco and decided that I actually live in the 1980's.

Having commuted from Kent to London and spent decent five figures losing hundreds of delayed hours over the years, I would like to say - with extreme clarity - South Eastern are a bunch of useless *****

TFL take over the franchise soon, doubt they'll do any better.
