The last thing I saw called TGV was Julien Faubert and that was rubbish, apart from when it went to sleep on the Real Madrid bench.

Wrong sort of leaves hit train punctuality

Leaves on the track probably the biggest travel related meme in the UK.

That is after wrong type of snow.

It's well worth the risk not paying.

Pro tip too if you get on a french bus just walk on, found they don't even bother either

UK trains are utter ****, London underground (tube) is GOAT though, way better than any other system i've been to. NY might be better as it 24h. Rome is close but the bastards went on strike while I was there and almost made me miss my flight.

The ticket people are complete arseholes jobs worth ****s in the UK too, once got stopped only had the ticket park - lost the seat reservation part as was half cut. There was 8 of us and we all had just the ticket. The prick tried to charge us £100 or w/e it was because we didn't have valid tickets because the reservation was lost. Long story short he threaten to get the police to get on at the next available station. After about 10-15 minutes of arguing and almost getting hit he eventually moved on.

Could image that catches a lot of people out and they end up paying for it for the fear of getting chucked off the train. Arsehole.

Shinkansen laughs at your pathetic train.

UK trains are just about OK if you're going precisely into or out of London on something relatively high speed and have bought a ticket three years in advance to make it affordable, all cross country/commuter trains are complete arse

V Everton is about as certain a W as any game in world football.

5 wins from
V Bournemouth
@Stoke
@WBA
V Palace
@Watford
V Saints
@ West Ham
V Boro

seems very doable. Think we make it comfortably.

madrid metro is great. maybe the best in europe. i guess barcelona is up there too, but for some reason ive never used it much and they didnt have the airport connected last time i was there.

i did hamburg - berlin on ice and it was good. if the germans just allow the danes to build a tunnel there might one day be a straight copenhagen - hamburg line

For metros you have to distinguish cities with real metro systems from those with only a couple of lines. Eg, Munich, Cologne, Bonn, etc metro is pretty sweet, but basically tiny and not comparable with a real city. [Overland complicates matters.]

So the real competition is probably NY, London, Paris, Madrid. NY has 24 hours - which is elite. Of the rest, I used to hate the Paris metro, but using it last summer it seemed pretty good. London has early adopted/inventor problems - frequent infinitely long intra station line changes, the depth of Angel tube. Madrid is just confusing imo.

most amusing metro: Glasgow - take a good look at yourself Glasgow - you have a city the size of aforementioned Munich/Cologne/BCN/... and you have a single loop which is literally designed exculsively for your impoverished diet-growth stunted residents - you can only stand up in the Metro if you are 5'8" or less - BY DESIGN.

lolScotland

NY subway is a bit of a disaster, and they are not even trying to pretend otherwise most days. The best you can say is that it's functional.

The best metro I've seen is in Moscow probably. Too many passengers these days, but it's really well maintained and the stations are works of art.

It's relative though. For us yanks, even the U.K. Trains are omgwow good. LFC lives in NYC or right around it and that's one of the best public transit systems in the US. I'm in Chicago and it would be absolute **** for basically any euro and it's decent by US standards.

The only thing I hope for from the dictator in Chief is that he somehow is able to force the republicans to approve his infrastructure ideas as that's basically the only decent thing he's for.

One of the main reasons that leaves on the track screwed up services when I was driving trains based in London was that management had idiotic methods for dealing with it.

Had lots of occasions sitting around with a room full of drivers and a station full of trains but noone going anywhere because you had to be on the specific unit that was supposed to be on that service and they were all halfway back from the coast.

Copenhagen metro = GOAT.
No drivers to strike and trains run smoothly every 3-4 minutes 24/7.

Agree with this. Lived in DC for 6 years and trains there are LOLAIDS.
Would never bother taking Amtrak for meetings in NYC as it made more sense to just fly or take the car.
