It's basically 50/50 that Winks develops into the greatest CM of his generation.

UK train system is excellent and easy to get to pretty much anywhere.

Watford blew a 2 goal lead in like the last 10 minutes of the game to I think Coventry City. Was my first exposure to a non-EPL (at the time) football ground. There were no seats across from where I was sat on the sideline as it was under construction at the time. I'm sure it looks nicer now. I loved every minute of it though. Gray, English day, with some misty rain in the air. Kid reading his dad the results of other league games on the train back afterwards. Fully enjoyed my experience at Vicarage Road. Went to some pubs but nothing struck me as must see near there nor would I have any desire to stay there if it were avoidable

I'll start airbrushing.

Tube is not generally considered the train and the fact that you think the UK train system is excellent basically says it all.

Its total and utter ****e, espcecially how much it costs.

I can fly to several European capitals cheaper than it is to take a 100M train journey.

the reason it so expensive to ride is because it's fairly popular, no? supply and demand and stuff

UK trains are, generally speaking, ****, and riddled with strikes that make them totally unreliable.

Such considerations dont really apply when we are talking monopolies. Its hard to have genuine competition on a train route.

The UK has the 8th best performing rail system across Europe, according to a recent analysis from BCG.

Great Britain comes in at the top end of Tier 2 countries, with a solid safety record but poor quality service. Tier 3 countries suffer particularly from poor safety records rather than poor quality of service – with Romania, for instance, well above the service quality of Great Britain at 2.1.

Nothing worse than International break, except the UK trains system.

AIDS discussions that happen in International break much more punctual than the UK train system.

8th best in europe doesnt sound like a disaster. the uk is about the 12th best country in europe anyway. so youre punching above your weight.

also arent the tracks are still publicly owner, and there's competition from busses and cars, so it only somewhat a monopoly, right?

I think you missed the bit where Romania has a better service, the only thing putting it in 8th is that you wont die when using UKR.

The only real heavy users of UKR are commuters and they have to pay for the nose for season tickets, a 22 Mile commute from Surry to London is around £4K a year, around 1K in Germany and less in France and Italy.

German trains the GOAT, don't even have to buy a ticket

I won't buy any next time I'm there for definite after spending €75 for no **** to bother checking my ticket was valid.

I really don't like german trains I thought it was even worse than in UK
03-20-2017 , 02:26 PM
Free trains to football stadium comes with the tickets, can drink on them (can drink everywhere in Germany afaia lol) and they seemed to have plenty of time to spend at each stop so no panic getting on or off.

I must be lucky living on the Portsmouth - Waterloo line, the busiest in the country.
Apart from delays caused by tragic events like suicide, we have a relatively reliable service. No doubt it has a lot to do with most of the money men coming into London on the same line and South West Trains knowing the threat to them if they mess up their journey.

In reference to the original post I was referring to the tube.

The trains, as in actual city to city trains are overpriced AF but then again so is the entire country
