Newcastle have enough quality in their ranks regardless of Kinnear, I mean you have them for Top 10.....

Norwich have signed RVW who I think is an excellent buy and have a years experience behind them.

Sunderland are a weird one but they will spend this summer so think they'll be fine.

Norwich most likely out of those 4 to be involved but the 3 promoted sides are probably the weakest crop to get promoted in recent memory.

Calling teams a mess though is stretching it a bit.
I think it's fair to call all those teams a mess. More than that, I'm not even that confident about our (Southampton) chances. We really dipped in form after we were all but safe, still are aids at the back etc. A few injuries and it could all get nasty

Graham Carr's future at Newcastle United is in doubt after another day of drama at the trouble-torn club.

Carr, the influential chief scout who was given an unprecedented eight-year contract this time last year, is considering following managing director Derek Llambias out of the exit at St James' Park.

Llambias announced his resignation at nine o'clock this morning following the appointment of former manager Joe Kinnear as the club's new director of football. "I have had an incredible journey during my five years at the club, including some challenging times," he said. "I will reflect with great fondness on my time in the North-east. I want to thank the staff for their hard work and our fans for their support of the club."

The Newcastle manager, Alan Pardew, has, as The Independent revealed on Tuesday, vowed to fight to hold on to his position. Pardew gave his first public statement since Kinnear's appointment when he said: "I am staying, to take the club up the league." His resolve has hardened since Kinnear's appointment.

Pardew's position has been undermined, with the director of football set to be given an office at the club's Benton training ground. The manager was aware that the club were considering creating such a position last summer. At that point it was felt that Carr's influence was such that the chief scout effectively held the role without the title. Kinnear's arrival has, however, been with a remit to troubleshoot as a more powerful figure than either Pardew or Carr and to report directly to owner, Mike Ashley.

On Monday, Kinnear raised questions over Newcastle's long-standing interest in Douglas, the Brazilian defender who is available on a free transfer, after his contract ran down at the Dutch side FC Twente. Carr was unhappy at the intervention and is believed to be considering his future.

The 68-year-old Geordie had been hailed as an expert talent spotter as he raided Europe, and mainly France, to unearth the kind of cut-price, rising stars Ashley saw as the way forward for Newcastle. Carr helped the club land Cheick Tioté, Hatem Ben Arfa and Yohan Cabaye for the combined total of just £14m and, when they finished the 2011-12 Premier League season in fifth place, was seen as key to that success. Carr also played a key role in the arrival of Moussa Sissoko and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa earlier this year.

However, Ashley was so furious with what he saw as a failure across the board last season as Newcastle were dragged into a relegation struggle that he has given Kinnear complete control at the club.

Ashley has backed more than £40m in transfer spending in the last year. It is unlikely he will sanction more new money being spent and Kinnear has admitted already he has the authority to sell any players he believes are "not Newcastle".

Pardew is expected to be in charge for the start of pre-season training. The odds on Kinnear succeeding him had dropped to 3-1, with Gus Poyet second favourite.

I have maybe a dozen Ajax shirts (one from 2010-11 signed by all the players - including the forum's favorite player Luis Suarez - framed on my wall) one Holland shirt which isn't even orange, an Italy shirt (I played my own games in them for a season as I was late in getting the club's official kit and well it was the same color), a randomly gifted #10 Adriano Corinthians (without his name though?). And a bunch of (ugly) fake shirts.

mess maybe the wrong word. not obviously strong enough to stay up with possible weaknesses maybe the correct description. that said, i tend to agree it's one of the weaker promoted bunches for a while

Very nice OP Langer.

I'll probably give some thoughts on some teams once football-fever really rises up once we get closer to the start.

But yeah many interesting things to look forward to, how they play out. A Manchester United and a league without Ferguson. That's the biggest thing. Then Mourinho being back.
Pellegrini I have high hopes for with the Man City squad and I have a special interest in what Fernandinho and Yaya playing together will be like (good or bad). But in general just new interesting players across the different teams everywhere and I'm sure many still to come.

Pool fans are dying for stability. EPL has been pretty much the only league to maintain managers for 8+ years and build successful dynasties. We want him to stay and do his thing.

You think he's not a good manager based on what?

To be honest, he hasn't really done much in his career.
06-20-2013 , 05:30 AM
He made some mistakes, but it was his first season. Overall he did a good job and showed that he knows what he is doing. He is not a bad manager and I'm happy with him on charge.

In for all the IKTS and LMS obv.

Loltoon if Carr walks. Get him signed up Moyes.

Shearer unhappy that Pardew has been undermined by Kinnear's appointment. He clearly thinks undermining the manager is the role of the club captain, much like when he was skipper and Gullit was in charge.

Got them all in the closet and wear them semi-regularly, plus I play a few nights a week. Many go way too long without ever getting touched though. It's more of a "collection" thing now than anything, but I do wear them. Someday I'll have a proper mancave in the house and display some in that
