Suarez is a crazy dirty ****, but he is our crazy dirty ****, and he will do anything to win, so I love him. The people saying "I am so glad he doesn't play for us!" remind me of Liverpool fans who wouldn't want Ronaldo "anywhere near" their team. I hated Ronaldo, but I know I would have been giddy with joy had he played for LFC every week. I am not saying Suarez is on the same level footballing wise LDO, but he should walk into most teams' first 11.

This is exact reason why Suarez and Rooney are wholly different when it comes to liking them.

Rooney is physical etc because he wants to win, Suarez often does stuff where it has no benefit to winning the game and just does it because he's a dirty ****.

Attitude is maybe the most important thing when it comes to liking someone. Scholes has dived, deliberately handballed, cut people down when on a break more times than most but who hates him? Very few.

The hypocrisy I see ITT manifests itself as eye-bulging, mouth-foaming, OTT, hateful rants when player X performs a crime, yet the reaction is not comparable when player Y does the same. However this is perfectly normal and an essential part of football. Arguably there would be no football as we know it without massive amounts of hypocrisy. Just consider fans at a game chanting "YOU FAT BASTARD!" at Frank Lampard. I even joined in myself. The hypocrisy is blatant, but it is so ingrained that to point it out almost seems rude.

This post demonstrates my point very well. I could dig around for evidence of Rooney being a dirty bastard ("physical" to the faithful), and god knows it would be the easiest google search of all time. Yet it would be absolutely pointless, as I would be trying to change the essence of blinkered fandom.
